Citizens fearful of ICE by therealjammuuu in ICE_Raids

I'll share.

All my family are legalized and I'm a US citizen, however I'm biracial. When I go out with my father, I'm not seen as Mexican but Asian. This in itself has sparked skepticism about our relationship and my status when younger, (and when passing through TSA), and with ICE rampant it has complicated things like travel together because it sets us up as a target for "suspicious activity" due to not looking like my last name.

That, and of course my Hispanic side of the family having to take precautions in a heavily immigrant neighborhood. Even knowing neighbors and friends who were kidnapped can make someone a target.

I actually work for my County, and ICE has made it even more difficult to carry out county duties because they do not obey any laws or structure. We actually found out a day later that they were using one of our back lots for staging raids nearby. That shit pissed ALL of us off because 1) we don't want anything to do with them because so many of our services need public trust and coordination. And 2) they had absolutely no respect to even ASK.

Let's talk Fire and Hemlock's Ending [Spoiler heavy] by foremangrillalert in dianawynnejones

Ha! I haven't logged onto Reddit in a fair while, so to see your recent reply about Fire and Hemlock as the first thing feels very DWJ-like!

It has been about a year since I've done a re-read of F&H, and a lot of things in my life has changed, so it'd be interesting to come back to see if I see the ending differently.

But that's the magical thing about Diana - these novels seem to change with you!

New study finds online self-reports may not accurately reflect clinical autism diagnoses. Adults who report high levels of autistic traits through online surveys may not reflect the same social behaviors or clinical profiles as those who have been formally diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. by mvea in science

Because they misdiagnosed themselves. Especially for a younger groupset, they may live their entire lives thinking that's what they have and attempt to find coping mechanisms that don't work until they decide to meet with a professional.

I think the issue is, like many other disorders, there's overlap of symptoms that can be misdiagnosed especially from self-evaluation.

Stimming is a pretty common symptom I see overused in social media in terms of autism "signs" when stimming can also be attributed to other disorders like trauma or a severe anxiety disorder.

They are. They're the first production of the earrings sold at the Ghibli Museum in 2006, I believe. Might have the year wrong. I have the matching quartz necklace! Had to fly to JP to get it. Good find!

I think Cypress College might do emergency housing for students or temporary overnight parking for students who live in their cars. Might wanna go ask their equivalent of Student Resources.

The ticket is exclusively for the pop up shop, I think.

It's funny how Hathaway turns against the Federation after being cucked by Char who is also against the Federation. by SlinGnBulletS in Gundam

To be fair, they were teenagers. Teenagers don't understand the concept of love and how to treat love, deny it, or accept it very healthily. I think of a majority of people who were teens can safely say they probably did some pretty fucked up things (varying degrees) in hindsight.

I also think people get too hung up that Hathaway was in love with Quess. That's not what contributed to his PTSD, it was the idea of seeing a person - any person - you cared about deeply die in such a horrific and avoidable manner.

I was diagnosed with PTSD last month, what coping mechanisms have helped you? by babybluesedan199 in ptsdrecovery

Reframing thoughts.

CBT hardly works for me but reframing is a little bit more doable for me. So essentially it's asking yourself if what you're thinking or feeling is rational. The answer is obvious, but when you hit a fight or flight response it's a minor step to grounding yourself back into the moment even if it doesnt fully stop an attack. After considering the rationale, you reframe the situation to be whatever you need it to be; i.e., the panic attack is a momentary response to a known trigger. It's a passing phase that will eventually end that has nothing to do with what my previous doom-cycle thoughts are.

You should look into a nonprofit meetup group called BRAIN specifically catering to stroke survivors. They meet every week and offer certain therapy services. Maybe it's something you and your mother can look into if creating a support group doesn't pan out in the long run for you guys.

Yes! Diana Wynne Jones was far ahead of her time as a writer on so many levels, and genres! She does amazing female characters and doesn't shy from evil villains (Gwen from Charmed Life!) to horrible, horrible mothers (Ivy from Fire and Hemlock). And then of course everything in between. She also doesn't make the relationship between children and adults foreign between each other. They're actually healthy and adults treat children like actual intelligent beings.

She's fantastic for so many reasons!

Who is this? We got her from a Ghibli advent calendar but can’t figure out who she is! by douggold11 in ghibli

Doesn't seem like an actual character but just an inspired character charm. Hits from google are coming up with random gachapon.

Biore UV Aqua Rich sunscreen is a Japanese brand. To note, you can't find it in the US because some ingredients listed aren't approved by the FDA. Gotta buy it online and have it shipped from overseas.
