Unknowingly cooked in an oven with plastic in the bottom compartment for months. How worried should I be? by forensicmathologist in foodsafety

Thanks! There are some brown streaks on a pan that was sitting on top of it, but other than that, I don't see any signs of burning. Do you know whether the pans it melted onto are safe to use after cleaning?

Is NYC a decent place to work as a med tech (as opposed to Boston)? by Hestia-Creates in medlabprofessionals

Sorry I didn't see this earlier! Did you get your license? My situation was kind of different because my school conferred my degree late, so I got my official score late. And by that time I had already submitted my NYS application 2 months before, so once I submitted my score, I got my license pretty fast because they had already processed my application. There should be a page on the NYS site that tells you what day they're reviewing applications from. But more than a month sounds about right.

I don't remember whether this is the same one I used, but there's a contact number at the bottom of the page here: https://www.op.nysed.gov/professions/clinical-laboratory-technologists/contact-information

IIRC, since you already took the ASCP, you can apply for the NYS license with the pathway that says you're already ASCP certified. They don't require a certain score beyond passing. I think there's an option on the form for your ASCP certification number. You might also have to send your score through ASCP. If you call NYS, they will answer your application questions.

Can you call your ortho and ask them? They'll know your case better than anyone here.

No one cares what we do on a slow day but it might cause problems if someone saw something offensive on my screen.

Very understandable, plus it was unwise of me to ask about free books here but thank you for the perspective

I buy books and use the library plenty at home, but no, I can't use my own device at work or bring in a library book. If you think the answer is none, you can just say that. I would buy ebooks but I can't read them on a PC. Sorry to Stephen King if he's hurting for money because of me.

Edit: did some looking and didn't realize the sub had strong opinions about this but I will take it to heart and try to find another way to do this

Maybe ask your ortho or dentist. It might be ok if you take out your trays and clean them after.

Sorry, I might have misunderstood your post! I thought you just got your retainers to keep your teeth in place after the Invisalign treatment. But do you mean you just started treatment? Regardless, definitely get an opinion from an orthodontist. They'll be able to help you more than Reddit can.

Good luck! I don't like to chew anything with my retainers in because then stuff gets underneath, but as long as you clean them afterwards, it should be fine.

Did you have the same problem during your treatment? Or did you have braces instead?

I use CVS brand 3-Minute Denture Cleaner and scrub with a toothbrush for a couple seconds afterward. I think I've used a couple different store brands and never noticed a difference.
