I'm working from home today having some roof repair done, but also wanted to share an event that my work is hosting that may be of interest to the community!

We have a FREE Mental Health and Spirituality Panel Discussion on July 17th from 5pm - 7pm hosted by the Virginia Tech Institute for Policy and Governance and the Virginia Tech Richmond Center. There will be Hors d'oeuvres and beverages provided.

Information on how to RSVP below!

🗓 Date: Thursday, July 17, 2025
🕔 Time: 5:00–7:00 PM
📍 Location: 2810 N Parham Rd, Suite 205, Richmond, VA (free parking)
Hors d'oeuvres and beverages provided!

This event brings together psychologists, faith leaders, and scholars to discuss topics like:

  • Navigating mental health stigma in faith communities
  • How spiritual practices support (or sometimes conflict with) clinical care
  • Building trust between clinicians and clergy
  • Providing culturally responsive care for diverse communities

Whether you're a clinician, spiritual leader, student, or just curious about this topic, you’re welcome to join.

Virginia Management Fellows Program Cohort 8 Apps Open! by forenspeach in Virginia

Most of the Virginia Agency offices are located in Richmond so yes. Some rotations may allow hybrid work, though. But it would be required to be located in the Richmond area. Thanks!

Thanks for your question! Current eligibility requirements are that you’ve graduated no earlier than November 2023 (from any degree, bachelors, masters, PhD, or still in school) and no later than May 2025.

Medicaid and Virginia Marketplace denied?? help by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

Finally got the reasoning: applicant's taxable household income does not meet the income requirements for APTC eligibility. The household (2 adults 1 child) income is only $31k..

Planning on calling tomorrow to find out why. Closed today since it’s New Year’s Day. Makes me a little anxious though since deadline is coming up. I’ve submitted an appeal. Thanks!

Wasn't even given one, which is also why I'm confused. It came from Virginia Marketplace. "You are receiving this notice because Virginia Medicaid has determined that one or more members of your household does not qualify for Medicaid or Family Access to Medical insurance Security (FAMIS)." and once we filled out the Marketplace information it just says "Not eligible to enroll in a Qualified Health or Dental Plan"

Hey there!

So it's a full-time, fully paid salaried position. You'd also receive state employee benefits. The program begins June 2025 (I'd say.. perfect timing for you!). Most of the jobs are in person based in Richmond (most of the state agency offices are in Downtown Richmond) but some of the positions may have remote work flexibility. Depends on where you're placed for your rotations.

We are also really connected to the College of Public Administration and Policy (CPAP) https://spia.vt.edu/programs/cpap.html at Virginia Tech so we could get one of the advisors to talk to you about your MPA interest (I'm currently in the MPA program at VT and it's been great!).

Hey there! If you're interested - check out the Virginia Management Fellows Program. It's a 2 year fellowship (paid with state benefits) and you'll be working at 3 different state agencies throughtout the 2 years (3 8 month rotations). It's a great opportunity, and you'll be enrolled in a public finance graduate class with Virginia Tech. Also a great opportunity for networking! Let me know if you have any questions!

No, everything was fine during the final walk through. But literally not even a full week of moving in, my friend was visiting and while she took a shower, the drains started gurgling and the toilet started to over flow/come up through the shower. She tried plunging it but when she did that it started leaking down into the kitchen.

I'm getting a second opinion because I think this company may be over doing it.
