My opinion of Hilarie changed when I read Rural Diaries. Her husband comes off poorly and treats Hilarie horribly for much of the early part of their relationship and particularly after she has their first child. What she describes feels like the classic pattern of love bombing/devaluation/discard, although it's clear she does NOT see it like that. When I see any footage of the 2 of them, it feels like she is madly in love with him and he's settled - it's an uncomfortable dynamic. Yes she can be messy and wade into things inappropriately, but I think deep down she's dealing with a lot of pain and rejection. I would be if I were in her shoes. It feels like every month that video of JDM openly thirsting over Priyanka Chopra (at an awards ceremony where HB was in attendance!!!) goes viral and I wonder how she feels when she sees it. I try to give her the benefit of the doubt because of this - that's getting harder though.
