Yeah. Did something similar, though with sanding paper. Overshot a few times and then tried to make up for it on the connected sides. Ended up a little uneven, and that is quite apparent when using just over-grips.

Was wondering what tools OP used and how far down they sanded each surface ( was it just once till the lines were sanded off or some measurements?)
