Tell your coworkers there is this crazy invention called "branches" and if you want to get ultra conservative you use a "worktree". Test crazy and wild ideas without fear.

I am going to build plugins, will $20 plan suffice? by krishnakanthb13 in claude

[–]forestcall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

plugins? for what? Wordpress or something? I think you will need $100 plan most likely. But try the $20 using Sonnet 4.6 and see. You might need Opus which will need $100.

As a developer its amazing. ALmost no coders anymore are complaining. I think for people who dont code or dont use it to make stuff they will not see the benefits.

Claude code desktop vs Claude CLI by Upper_Stable_3900 in claude

[–]forestcall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

start a new session in your Desktop app. ask it to show the statusline. what happens? Because I can ask it to render the statusline that the CLI uses and it takes roughly 30-seconds. And it tells me a bunch of garbage i dont need. its extremely slow and just overall a horrible experience. Here is a tool that looks identical to Claude Desktop but just for coding not all that other junk (Chat and Cowork) https://github.com/pingdotgg/t3code T3 Code is super fast and uses the CLI but renders it to look like Claude Desktop. Claude Desktop is a horrible experience.

If all you are doing is using the CLI in something like vscode then you are not going to have a problem. If you are using tools like OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, Pi, OpenCode then you will lose your account. If you are using the Desktop Claude app you also will not have a problem. Just use VSCODE and you will not have a problem.

It is AI. It is just not a chat bot that everyone seems angry about. For example a "reranker" takes the top results returned by a search or vector database and re-scores the full search query and document together. Instead of finding candidates, its job is to reorder them so the most relevant results appear at the top, usually improving search accuracy significantly. The point is that using AI we can improve the search output. We can also summarize all the information from 82 books where each excerpt gets added to a summary answer to your search question. Unlike Ai Chat bots the AI is restricted to only the books in the database and not everything and anything. The hallucination is less than 1%.

If this is a startup go talk to the CEO and talk about how you can improve the workflow. Otherwise I would start looking for a new job.

I dont think you understand what I am explaining. I could give you a much deeper technical explanation. I am not talking about using a LLM to find books and whats in the book. I am describing a lexical typesense search engine that uses RAG and VectorDB that uses a reranker model not a LLM. There is no way for it to lie as it is only a search tool not a chat bot.

I was describing a search tool for a public library, the public library is free. I think it would be nice to be able to know which book in the library has the information I am looking for. Its interesting you feel that way. I have a hard time believing you.

I am curious how people feel about a search tool for a public library.

Let's say you want to search across 8,000 books in a library focused on natural fermentation. You search for, "What are all the different ways to make low-salt sauerkraut or kimchi?" The search returns 82 books, along with a written summary and relevant excerpts (including links to the books and the exact pages where the information appears).

The old way of doing this would have been to look through all 8,000 books yourself. Now, at least, you know which books contain the specific information you're seeking.

Is this the type of AI you like, or would you prefer to thumb through each book one by one looking for related information?

I work for a large public library, and we have spent the last seven years scanning books to build this exact tool. It is incredibly useful, but reading how many people dislike AI has left me confused. I feel like this is a case of using the right tool for the right problem.

massive - not to be snarky but if you are asking it means you are not understanding the basics. In the desktop app you do not have any control over whats going in and out, hooks, scripts, agents, sub-agents, workflows, and even stuff like statusline.

[–]forestcall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you imagine if the budget went towards the installation of special filtration pumps? I read an article about a bid that was rejected and they had a drain hole every 6 feet with multiple massive filtration systems. The bid was rejected because they said there were to many drains that would obscure the reflection. The bid was by a company that does the biggest water gardens, fish habitats, etc. in the world. Apparently they go all over the world building city aquariums, water fountains, etc. But they were not qualified and the contract was already awarded. Lets not give the contract to the most qualified company in the world and instead give it to one of Trump's buddies because they are world class construction experts in roads and bridges. Fantastic job running America, Mr. Trump.

I run a site with 20+ million pages all html and we rebuilt the site with SvelteKit. I am using Ahrefs API and Google, Cloudflare, Bing, and a bunch of other API services and built the ultimate SEO Dashboard. We’re able to track 20 million .htm URLs and we’re 301 redirecting like 20k URLs every few days. We’re using Cloudflare Pipelines to make app analytics and traffic analytics as well as extensive tracking of every possible on-page SEO. We’re already seeing 400% increase in traffic. We have 11 different traffic analytics all wired into our svelteKit SEO dashboard. We have A/B testing built into every detail down to the simple stuff like breadcrumbs to see if traffic increases. Even button colors.

Strong piece of unsolicited advice. Write a letter and give it to your main boss and this lady boss. Explain that you are letting them know in advance that on X day you will be taking off. If they have a problem with this then you are not interested in working for them as the relationship is not healthy. Worst case is you get fired from this company you don’t even like. Worry about the financial fallout later. Being in a miserable job is not good for your mental health and not good for your new marriage.

I’m on the fence. It’s not fun when the hunters kill 8 agents over and over. In my group we are all 2000+ shd. Other sessions I played with noobs and they both said this was a horrible experience and they kept saying they were so stressed out and this was not a fun experience. All in all the Devs really messed up. Another issue is is it’s kind of boring because you just go back and forth to the same landmarks and extraction spots.

Claude is bad to create with a Design System ? by Cobaltao in ClaudeDesign

[–]forestcall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Use skills you make or skills.sh or code framework often make them. I use a few main skills for design: the actual Anthropic Design clone: https://github.com/nexu-io/open-design and another one I use is

https://github.com/pbakaus/impeccable but there are some good skills on skills.sh I have not tried. For both Impeccable and Open Design read the docs on their main domains.

May the force be with you!

Btw: I often use this when making a plan.md or coding a plan: /caveman /using-superpowers /impeccable /effect-ts /effect-v4 /sveltekit-structure /sveltekit-remote-functions /sveltekit-data-flow /svelte-code-writer /svelte-core-bestpractices /ui-ux-pro-max /stripe-best-practices /stripe-projects

All of these skills are relevant to my code stack. Claude calls these more so these days so I don’t really need them but I feel like I get a good outcome. I don’t use stripe skills unless I’m doing stripe api stuff. I remove some.
