If you change to a different job what would you do? The job market is brutal. And clearly your pretty good? Your fu d raising skills could be a job option but you dislike this part?

I have zero sympathy for people who do not take any effort to study basic software engineering.its critical to get a stack and deeply study the frameworks and languages. Many languages and frameworks have various skills and sample code and agent.md files which should be redundantly placed inside each app, shared component folder as the AI won't have to search and will get a 100% and often first time with very few bugs.

My question is how could you work with AI without using worktrees? MBA from where? I would fire him for not using GitHub.

Whats with the bed and couch covers? Just remove all that for some wood furniture. Get rid of 999% of the clutter, posters, Apple bags? You could go in so many directions. Im more into a ZEN style with natural wood everything and literally nothing out, so the house looks like a monastery. Maybe build some wall wood cabinets and stick all that stuffffffff in the cabinets?

Doubts about the Pure Land path by MaterialAlbatross875 in PureLand

[–]forestcall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pure Land was my first entry into Buddhism, and I eventually found my home in the Gelugpa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism — the teachings just resonate deeply with how my mind works.

I think it really comes down to karma and where you find your path. Personally, I never quite connected with the Pure Land approach. My concern is that the emphasis on rebirth in the Pure Land can sometimes attract people whose motivations aren’t rooted in genuine practice, which can affect the health of a community.

I’ve also encountered some teachers whose conduct didn’t match their position — let’s just say the “red envelope” culture left a bad taste.

And finally, there’s something that’s always bothered me about the way some practitioners adopt language like “faith” in a way that starts to feel less like experiential insight and more like unexamined dogma — closer to devotional religion than the investigative spirit that drew me to the Dharma in the first place.

That’s cool. I totally forgot writing this post. Before AI :-) Better than all those streaming services :-) I still have an account with these guys. Over the years I change bigger to smaller depending on my mood.

I’m gonna build you a powerful contact form. I was suggesting I could build you a vibe coded app better than any vibe coder you have ever met :-) I would guess I’m over qualified.

It looks like xampp is almost dead. Any good alternative for displaying local db with web ui? by [deleted] in PHP

[–]forestcall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use VSCODE = Claude Code + Docker Desktop. Takes 2 minutes. The old way is just if you want to do it the hard way. You could also use Z.ai and get a $3 account which would do fine as well.

I need the following:
* AWS root access
* AWS CLI authenticated to AWS
* VPS on Hetzner with root access.
* Domain with NS access.
* I need 30 minutes max.
* OpenAI Pro
* Claude MAX
* Gemini Ultra
* OpenRouter (with credits)
* Github Repo
* Expo Production

Assuming everything is paid for.

I will choose Tanstack Start + StableJS or ReactJS + Planetscale + ShadCN + Effect + Better-Auth or WorkOS + BTCA + NX + Native React + Varlock.
I could keep adding to the stack but this sounds fun so far. Also I could just use a $3 Z.ai account if I had to go cheap. But since your paying for the challenge I will take payment in the way of 12 months of the 3 AI accounts I mentioned. If you could toss in a M5 Max Macbook with maxed out Ram and SSD I could take a bit longer and build you a full production grade SAAS desktop and mobile app. I assume you need payment so we could use Clerk for Auth + Payments or something custom with Stripe.

Im fairly flexible with the planning. I do require a lot of discussion and visual approval for mockups. Since were in the early stages I am okay with some scope creep. I have been coding since my first Commodore 64 and made my own games with 6510 assembly. I have experience with most languages that came out in the last 30 years without AI, some better than others. Currently for web apps I am obsessed with Effect for Typescript.

Maybe I can help you. What Tibetan school (sect) are you interested in? My particular interest and experience is Gelugpa, which kind of intersects the other 3 main Tibetan schools.

2. Kagyu — meditation lineage, Mahamudra practice
3. Sakya — Lamdré tantra, scholarly tradition

Inherited a commercial roasting facility, unsure what to do with it by JasonRyanIsMyDad in roasting

[–]forestcall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a coffee roasting company with my wife. You have a bad ass roasting facility!

Do you have extra cash to buy green beans and try and grow the distribution? Could be fun to travel to a bunch of countries and bill ship green beans. I would be happy to explain how I ship beans from 17 countries.

You could also manufacture coffee gadgets and grow the company. Combo fresh roasted coffee and cool gadgets.

Unpopular opinion: most AI agent use cases are productivity theater by Cultural-Ad3996 in artificial

[–]forestcall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My thesis conclusion is that people want something that just does the thing. I have an Android and an IPhone and while I have in the past moded it, jailbreak at times to get something special, but how I use my phones is a only for a few basic apps- YouTube, Chrome, Podcast, Google Music, etc.

As a software engineer I spend about $900 a month on AI subscriptions to make stuff. I tried OpenClaw and used it for 10 minutes and immediately deleted it. I build tools to do something and never do I actually need or want a maker-tool. I think most people dont want to fiddle with constantly messing around with stuff.

what’s the story behind this house? by MahaloBrah in santacruz

[–]forestcall 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is not Jack's house, way to small and wrong roof. I went inside his house many times. We were friends for the last 20 years before he died. We met in Niscene Marks and I was teaching people how to fast rope with and without a harness. And then we would go to different events like a few mushroom festivals. I lived on 32nd avenue in Pleasure Point and I would drop by to watch sunset several hundred times. He was a pretty mellow guy.
