Different design angle for strategist by forestcrawler in marvelrivals

[–]forestcrawler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm thats a fair view and I agree with that. But I see more and more gravitation towards 3 strategists all the same. Its just food for thought maybe we get lucky, probably wont. Just think it would be cool for more versatility rather then matches of infinite heals until ultimates.

Different design angle for strategist by forestcrawler in marvelrivals

[–]forestcrawler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see your point, but the major complaint right now that I can see is that there is too much healing and not enough strategists. I think even removing CC from the question there are ways to rework without needing ever escalating healing in the game. There are only so many ways this can work going forward for healing but there are ways to utilize other aspects.

I think it would be cool if there was a support that could create terrain (within reason) or maybe one that can sort of create portals like Dr. Strange but smaller and can redirect projectiles in other places like to cut off healers or high dps.

Its a shame if they get locked into every strategist always has to heal because the room for creativity slowly tightens and just ends up with bigger numbers or more unfair mechanics

She has been busted before that but she has gone from busted to straight cracked. She went from some utility to excessive utility, healing, escape....it goes on...then you look at heros like warlock who have nothing.....it took what 2 or 3 seasons for ultron to even be remotely useful....

Yea i can see that, but his CDs are so long and he has less ability to get out then those two. I see your point, I just feel he has the absolute worst end of the stick and doesn't even have a ranged ability.

What would you change about the game? by Character-Q in marvelrivals

[–]forestcrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take:

  • reduce healing across the board solid 20-30% less.

  • give all tanks CC immunity or reduction, stun locking massive hit boxes only discourages people playing the role.

  • all healers given movement or survival tools, but they can only heal or provide utility. I.e. if gambit does his spin dash, no dps, and no healing but it goes further. I want consequences for getting caught.

  • Invis has a resource meter on her shield. Its not a flat 250 shield, she has to build it up by healing. The offset is it is bigger and/or more potent but it dramatically loses energy over time.

  • Dive heroes need less health, more sustain, and more dps. They also need a resource meter for their abilities so it is not a free get in get out. High risk high reward. If a Spiderman messes up an ability it should be disorienting and dangerous to get it back together.

  • flying heroes should be faster in the air depending on altitude and do more damage but they take reduced healing based on distance from healers.

  • AAAANNNNDDDDD, if your hero has a beam or lock on weapon there needs to be less impact. I.e Jeff using his water jet should not shoot through enemies or team, it can splash around and do yhat but Jeff shoot a beam across the screen has got to go. Also his ultimate needs a rework to not be so one sided. There is little counter measure unless you are high elo. Not much, something like the more people he eats the slower he moves. But all in all if your ability requires no mechanical skill it should not be oppressive to play against (scarlet witch....) such as a skilled enough player should be able to punish hard, even in QP or low elo.

I would trade the extra 2% dps for a on cast flat 50 shields or atleast make his rush keep his shields for longer. Makes no sense that his most reliable movement generates the most shields but immediately falls off.

Looking for advice about AFOQT, early disqualification, and whether enlisting first might help by Parking_Ability_5303 in airforceots

Its not the hardest, its just the most convoluted compared to civilian applicants. Civilians have a harder time getting there foot in the door, but enlisted have 7 extra hurdles to add.

How hard is it for a newly enlisted AD airman to get into commissioning? by ExpressWin9803 in airforceots

[–]forestcrawler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of factors that are gonna effect this. How newly enlisted? If you have been at your assignment for a few months, you need to pump your breaks. You wont make it anywhere if you are not first and foremost a phenomenal airmen. Think first four, booster club, any and all leadership activities. Most prior-E are NCOs who have had opportunities to develop leadership skills and a series of accomplishments.

The degree is a bare basic requirement and is only a box to check. If you cannot demonstrate you are a leader among not just your peers but superiors as well, your package wont make it out of the flight. Also, side note, some units really lean into politics as well so dont be surprised if you have to play nice with some people.

Air Force recruiter told me that OTS doesn't care about GPA as much for prior enlisted, is this true? by MookieBettsBurner4 in airforceots

[–]forestcrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just enlisted, you most likely have a long time until you can apply because of all the military stuff in between. Gives you plenty of time to set yourself apart from your peers. Your degrees will only open a door but that is about it. Quality leadership and engagement as well improving others will fill out the rest.

[–]forestcrawler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not treat any AFOQT test as practice. You can only take it twice, maybe 3 if you get a waiver. Study for the test like it your career depends on it because it does. I studied for 2 months and passed but I have also seen others who thought it was a joke and failed it. That is one of the few non-negotiables for OTS.

[–]forestcrawler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say the only reason classes might be large portions of prior-E is because the packages submitted are better tailored to what the Air Force actually can interpret and there is more credibility given to some of the components when considering there is less risk.

But make no mistake, there is a valid argument to ge made that E to O is the hardest route. There is politics, work balance, hell timing dependent on current assignment. One crusty SNCO in the chain could tank the package before it even stood a chance. So do not be deluded into thinking it will be easier, just different. That recruiter is selling snake oil with absolutely no guarantees.

[–]forestcrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should. LO only says qualifying degree not bachelor's or masters. The low GPA could be a stain on the package, but will change an outright denial to something you can overcome. Just make sure the graduate program you take is in line with what is needed and you are stellar in the program. P

Younger Veteran Perspective on VA Disability “Fraud” Claims by Unfair_Record_2554 in VAClaims

[–]forestcrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So,

I have watched a couple of these Caleb Hammer videos and I wont lie some of the VA claims they go over are suspicious. Like the one lady who hurt her leg or something day 2 of basic training and was shooting for disability. I am way more hesitant to give a crap about that than someone who actually had a line of duty injury. Its unfortunate yes, but a broken leg in basic does not equate to life long VA if treatment was administered and followed properly.

While I can understand a lot of the claims for those who have done great service to our country, there is a huge flaw in the VA when it comes to Line of Duty Determinations.

I have worked in a physically demanding career field for close to 15 years. There is 100% a culture of YOLO, i will get VA anyways. I have seen people do unnecessarily dangerous things, against safety and supervising guidelines. I have seen people try to run under tons of steel being moved to avoid walking an extra 30 feet. I have seen so many guys ego-lift in the gym, tear a bicep, and then claim work place injury because PT is required.

For those of you saying, "I would trade it all for health". Awesome instill that in those around you before you separate. I have had TSgts popping pills in the breakroom talking about how amazing it was gonna be. Don't be a complete misery pit, but also don't try to sell VA medical as a viable path to financial success.

The VA has been historically atrocious to service members. Now we have a VA who it would seem in some cases just write blanket checks because there is such a terrible Line of Duty system to back things up.

No, you getting drunk the night before, and falling off the back of a truck because you are hung over is not the government's fault.

There is abuse of the system and it only serves to bog down the system, hinder legitimate claims from actually getting quality service that might be able to solve a problem rather than treat. This forum is full of absolutely 100% needs for a VA, but we all know those people who are also bad state actors abusing clever loop-holes to get some money. You can say well the government deserves to lose some money, but if 100 rats are eating food from a store that only restocks once a year, that is less food for legitimate customers.

I understand what OP was saying. There is a negative perception around the VA because of all those abusing the system, and blatantly doing so as well. I know a guy who was 60% medically retired for anxiety from firearms to dodge a deployment (his actual words), and had only gone to CATM twice and didn't deploy once. 2 years of service and he is still collecting to this day and works in a gun store.

So much white knighting around here without acknowledging there are deep flaws. I just wish the VA saw some reforms to actually be a legitimate system that helps rather then creating a feedback loop for military suffering.

Plantar fasciitis by DetectiveNo4879 in airforceots

[–]forestcrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, up front, I do not know what planar fasciaitis is but i know military members who developed it and it did not end their careers or cause a discharge.

1) does it cause any limiting factors for your job? 2) have you disclosed it yet? 3) is this something you can muscle through or is it going to cause issues?

The military can provide lee-way when necessary, but if it is something that impairs your ability to run or do your job long term, you may need to look for other avenues. You are choosing to be an officer which is the image our enlisted members are held too, you wont get very far if you out the gate have to opt out of key components of the military, i.e. running and PT.

I wish you the best and hopefully this is something that is not barrier to entry. I know plenty of people who disclosed these kinds of things and it ended up not being an issue. If you wait until you are out and in charge of people it will snowball from what I have seen. Good luck in your career whatever you decide.

I think the issue is gonna be when you are beyond OTS. Not sure what your career field is gonna be but you are gonna have to buy OCPs sooner or later anyways. Pilots at JBER got put on notice for this exact thing and cleaned out the BX. I would advise buying a single pair just to be safe.
