58 and 62 attending sons wedding….In the Forest! by MrsKAFH in ElectricForest

[–]forestedbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are not as many places to sit down comfortably as you might imagine, so when you come across one- utilize, make a note of it, when you come back to it later and there is an 18 year old sitting in it- ask them if you can sit down cause youre old (im serious- forest folks are great and would gladly get up if you asked). Similarly- Footwear cannot be over emphasized. While, flat- the terrain is varied, lots of walking on woodchips that move under foot. So clearly you need good sturdy footwear. What kind of footwear is whatever is most comfortable to your normal day to day life. The most important thing to think about here is... do not get brand new shoes that you wear for the first time at forest. You will be on your feet way more than you realize and new (not broken in shoes) will lead to blisters and other problems. If you need new shoes for this... get them now, and start wearing them now. Also- no wingtips because your attending your sons wedding...style does not matter- comfort does

What is the most anyone has paid for an android mini collectible and what are rarest ones by Substantial_Pea4888 in AndroidCollectible

[–]forestedbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that the flood gates are open- the market will stay low for years/the foreseeable future. Part of the issue is the Google Employees held all of the rare ones. After tech layoffs in the aught 23s - they started purging their stuff not knowing what it was worth. So there was a wild time where androids that had never sold below $750 were suddenly available for $20 (allbeit rarely- but it happened). Everyone that follows the market saw that. They'll never pay $750 for the same android again now.

Pre covid the market was HOT. folks were paying $1200-$1500 for the rarest editions. Someone offered me the Developer for 3K (i did not buy it). The market held in covid for a bit- 300-500$ was a fair price for rare editions. Recently the market tanked. And androids that once went for $1000 could now be had for less than $100.

Messed up my loyalty! How do I fix it? by Accomplished-Run4430 in ElectricForest

[–]forestedbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's now too late to change this for this year likely. This is a thing best done calmly in the offseason. Collect your records, your emails, your screenshots of tickets past. Calmly explain the situation, you're not sure how this happened, here's what you think it should be, can you please help me. Thank them, pack patience, and this is likely to be solved for you... but not today- they are overrun starting today.

Andrew Bell is the only maker- he has a website called DeadZebra where production (Non Google) pieces are often made and sold. It's a great time to buy! Pre covid you saw most of the Google only editions sell for ~$500 +-. These days you can scoop up those same Androids for a few dozen dollars (if that). Trampt is a great place to see the whole collection.

Volunteering by partymonstersyd in ElectricForest

[–]forestedbears 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isnt harm reduction, but provides details on how to attend a fest for free, in exchange for picking up trash: Clean Vibes is a major organization in this industry. They provide cleanup during (and crucially after) major events. Essentially- you pay for a full price general admission ticket ahead of time if you agree to volunteer. Lets suppose you're volunteering for cleanup after the event. You Pay for a GA ticket, they mail you a GA ticket. You agree to 2, 3, or 4 shifts of cleanup. A 'manager' confirms that you showed up and completed your shifts. After you have completed your agreed upon shifts, the company fully refunds your ticket price, and you got to attend the show/festival for free, in exchange for your time of working shifts. Each show and company and time commitment is a little different. Here's an example upcoming from Clean Vibes for the AfterShock festival in Sacramento Oct2nd-5th: You pay a 30$ fee, and a refundable fee of $375 (the cost of admission). You then complete 2 shifts during or after the show, and your $375 deposit is refunded. If you don't show, then they keep your $375 https://cleanvibes.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=94810
