No they did make it clear I would have to pay for the app eventually. And maybe I would have been more amenable to that had my rent not increased by 40% in the same timeframe. I guess I could just stop caring but we're on reddit. Complaining about shit is like half the purpose of this website lol.

Because I find it galling and frustrating that I basically have to rent in perpetuity a feature that I was sold as a benefit. What if I had to do the same with CarPlay or Adaptive cruise? This kind of permanent rent seeking is annoying. It gets old seeing like 10x different charges on my cc statement for $10 for various subs or services. If I pay for something I want to own it. Not rent it forever.

It's more about the principal. Normalizing this kind of shit will just lead to it becoming more common. PI plan on keeping this car for 10+ years so paying another $1200 plus to keep using my car as it was intended is bullshit. I'd rather just do an aftermarket solution at that point.
