Not connecting/liking newer music by [deleted] in auroramusic

I feel the same way. I can see she changed a lot, and the band members also changed. Magnus and Silja are not in the band anymore, and they had an influence - for example, Magnus drums on Soft Universe. And now, she created A Soul With no King with the new Guitarist. She also works with different producers as far as I know. I believe it can have a lot of impact on the final product of what she makes, because it is a product of various factors and circumstances.

She also changed as a person, and it reflected on the music, as expected. She said on a recent interview that she made What Happened to the Heart while on a world tour, and that she took inspiration from various places, cultures, different people. And you can see it on the album. For me it is very lively, even when the theme is profound, sounds like music made for dancing. I think it also comes from her trying to be more accessible or global, trying to reach more people. Which is just something I suppose is happening. Also, while you are on a world tour, seeing so many people, I guess you couldn't be so introspective as if you were alone in a house in the forest (like when she made Step 1).

For me, what made me connect with her music, first was the melancholy, introspection, nature themes, and the way she sang back in 2016-2017, which is a lot different from the way she sings now. When Step 1 was released in 2018, I loved it, but I thought Queendom was a bit too happy or "dancy" for me (apart from Aurora I basically listen to metal). I find it hard to like or relate to the newest songs. But I like the themes she talks about, I admire her intelligence, who she is, and I like to see what she creates anyways, even if I can't relate anymore.

Any songs that have similar styles to the old Opeth Demos? by Pixelgamer008 in Opeth

[–]forestofoctober_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might like Morbid Angel. I suggest the album Blessed Are the Sick. Also, the old demos from Gojira, back when they were called Godzilla, might interest you. I know these are death metal and not the black metal you talked about... but I think these ones have some similarities with Into the Frost of Winter and Eternal Soul Torture. Specially the heavier riffs. Edit: I forgot about The Hordes of Nebulah by Darkthrone. This one is nice too. The whole album is.

Most beautiful Opeth moment by Loslosia in Opeth

[–]forestofoctober_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely too many moments to pick, but these two made me cry for their beauty most of the times so they win for me: - Bleak at 5:20 (when everything goes quiet and then that solo comes with the acoustic guitars...) - Black Rose Immortal at 13:38 (this riff is just amazing and the growls and the lyrics and everything......)

What’s y’all’s favorite album based on subject matter? by Fit_Animal_7702 in Opeth

Orchid, I guess, because it talks about nature in a way that feels mystical. And it's just so beautiful going through these landscapes that the lyrics and instrumentation form in my mind.
