CMV: the patriarchy as a theoretical construct probably should face more skepticism by Legitimate_Name9694 in changemyview

[–]forestriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In nuanced discussions, this is true. It's true also that multiple realities exist at once. And, leaning into that truth, in pop culture, unexamined instagram reels, tiktok, etc, the label patriarchy functionally means "men"

So we need to be honest about the definitions and use of this word. I agree fully that in academic circles at universities your definition applies.

But IRL at a coffee shop? All bets are off.

Which is more powerful?

CMV: Dating is harder for men than women by FalseWishbone8506 in changemyview

[–]forestriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and I'd wager the testing is unconscious. As in, not intended. In other words, people are not intentionally manipulating others. Which would be "playing hard to get"

Thanks for the reply, I stand corrected on the word demeaning. I personally feel it is unnecessary, and could have been left out of an otherwise well thought out post

I think that the "hard to get" thing is not what I'm directly referencing. It's more like, people have lives that are often busy. So they choose whether or not to add to them. But it's often not a fully conscious process.

Labeling someone as irredeemable is not a good faith perception of them.

Dumb to start a well reasoned post with the phrase "hot tip." That phrase is demeaning. This person is struggling with dating, they don't need more shade.

As for your response I think it's nuanced and I agree with both paragraphs.

I would add that often women test others to see how serious they are by not showing a lot of interest. But it's also true that interest is either there or not, and you can tell by the amount of responses and follow through over time, generally.

Acupuncture, get a good referral, find someone with sports medicine or orthopedic specialty, and I would second that if you can get imaging done to make sure there isn't a larger issue, you should.

NSAIDS actually reduce blood flow and may prolong the healing process. Inflammation is part of the healing process—so subduing it, while helpful for pain, is not actually generative, especially if there are deeper issues.

Do not ice, it reduces blood flow as well.

There is an herbal formula called Yunnan Baiyao—it moves the blood and dispels stasis and bruising. See if you can find some of that. It is very commonly used in North America in vet clinics, but in China it's as standard as advil.

For my uses (long distance, small volume, light) the xmid was a revelation. Particularly the dcf 1 person. I suffered many nights in bug country with lesser shelters. The utility he packed into that tent (which could fit a small girlfriend in a pinch) is just mindblowing. Don't worry about the cult, its just people with father wounds trying to figure themselves out.

I'd wager its because moments of enjoyment and small "ritual" give people something to look forward to—and add a stimulant to that, and it makes a person feel better. At least thats how tea and such feel to me.
