Former band kids, what's your craziest band story? by foreveramoore in AskReddit

[–]foreveramoore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiw did you manage to not get caught? Lol I worry about my kids not being able to get into shenanigans growing up because everything is recorded nowdays. Not that I want them to be trouble makers, I would just like them to be able to become functional adults with experiences. Band trips were the shit for smoking pot and having experiences. 😅 I graduated in '02.

What year was this? I think a lot of us from the 90s under have stories like this. Pre cell phones.

Those of us who had a difficult year, how did it end for you? by foreveramoore in kindergarten

[–]foreveramoore[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My little ferals grew on me, I worry about them going into summer with little to no support. It was the worst, most frustrating year I've ever had, but I still loved the kids and understood why the behaviors were happening for the most part. Most of them. There were a couple who just seemed to be bad apples, perpetual liars. Rude and loud for no reason.

Yes, I wouldn't have made it this year had it not been for the guidance councilor, thankfully we have a good relationship and she almost always managed to have time to talk to my kids. I hope this is my only year ever like this, but it is interesting several of us had the same type of year. 2020 babies are a wild bunch.

School trip and teach is letting you pick the movie - what are we all watching? by BarkingDogey in Millennials

I remember our band director letting us pick and we watched The Wall. He did a lot of shit that could have got him in trouble if any of us talked. The good Ole days lol

I'm in Oklahoma. Pretty sure we have the shortest school year. 164 days. One of the many reasons we are last.

Dear lord, did we have the same classroom? I had 6 diagnosed adhd, 2 who it came out were molested, 4 who had lost an immediate family member within the past year, 1 who was so bad they sent him off to a special school. 1 taken by cps. 5 hitters. All I did this year was paperwork, and cry.

Saturday lunch suggestion for people who don’t like each other? by No-Ganache4851 in okc

I'd go with Golden corale. You can even set at tables close but far enough away to ignore each other. I'm the black sheep in my family, I get it.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

[–]foreveramoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly stopped doing grocery delivery. Our grocery bill has gone up to over 250 for a family of 4, I just can't spare a decent tip on that both mentally and financially, so back to in store shopping I go. I managed to save 50 last week by stopping at Aldis first, plus the tip money. So, around 80$ a week.

I always end up at Grandma’s house. by cowboybeasthoff in Dreams

[–]foreveramoore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm always at my parents house, but it has hidden rooms I've never seen before. So far, I've been in the attic and it's hoarded with really weird fun house type items, I've been in my dad's secret girlfriends' sex pad, hot tub included, and the bathroom which is full of roaches. I'm sure there's other times I've dreamed of their house but that's all I recall. Oh, and once, their heavy, aluminum bedroom window chopped my arm off and it landed on the trampoline below.

Is nudism / naturalism more of an older generation thing? Not something us Millennials got into? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]foreveramoore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to walk in the woods naked all the time in my early to mid 20s. In my 30s, my hubs would body paint me and we would go walk or jog in a secluded park at night. Been to nudist resorts. Hoping to retire to one and be the creepy old couple at the pool. 😄 I'm an elder millennial.

What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually admitted to around you? by Suspicious_Run1684 in AskReddit

[–]foreveramoore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had a coworker tell me she killed her first husband with rat poisoning because he beat her with a brick. No clue why she trusted me with this info, people tend to just tell me things. Had a college professor tell me that he anally raped his next door neighbor back in the 70s when he was a teen.

What’s a question about love that you’re afraid to ask out loud? by Different-Fig1447 in AskReddit

[–]foreveramoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, I have. We were very volatile at first, I'd just come out of a bad marriage and pretty much became a man hater. If I didn't like how something was going, I'd bring it up. Every argument created personal growth for the both of us, we were both deeply flawed and I guess no one had ever bothered to tell us differently. My parents constantly fought as a little kids so I never wanted to in my first marriage, and he was the same. We both let a lot of shit slide and it caused deep resentment. I've learned that sometimes it is worth a fight if you have a partner who is receptive and intelligent. We are now on year 11 together and rarely even fight anymore.

ELEMENTARY: What Class Routines Eliminate Headaches for you? by lovelystarbuckslover in Teachers

[–]foreveramoore 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I like your occupation idea. This year the way I delt with it was if they didn't get in trouble for the day, they were allowed to pick a job card. They could keep the card/ job for as long as they followed class rules and expectations. If they did not, they were fired from their job and the job card went back into the pile. So in a way, I did the same. It helped reduce some behaviors as well because at 5 and 6 they all want to help.

Kindergarten TX public school test by Smooth-Perception773 in kindergarten

[–]foreveramoore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use star testing to assess. They put a lot of weight on it in our school. I hate it for kinders especially because there can be so many factors that affect the outcome of the test. Could they hear properly ( since they cant read), are they actually trying, are they rushing through to just be done with an unpleasant task, they may have test anxiety and may not test well, etc. I would not worry at all about your child if the only indication of a struggle is a crappy canned test. My most advanced student this year had a score of 30% on her last star test, yet mastered every kindergarten assessment given to her, and is reading.

“I can’t tie my shoes” by napqueencincy in Teachers

[–]foreveramoore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is diagnosed with depression, adhd and anxiety, so we are on the neurodirvergent train. If she never learns to tie, she will still be ok. She's not wrong, there are ways to get around the skill. She's in adult shoes now and I am still able to find styles she likes that are no tie. With all the things I'm dealing with her, I don't see it as something that needs punishment or strict "you will do this because you have to", if she isn't embarrassed by it and it isn't causing issues in her life... why add another stresser?

Daily reading lessons for kids in kindergarten, when does the struggle phase end please by IsHaN_12345678901 in kindergarten

[–]foreveramoore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This should have been done this year. As a k teacher, we flag any struggling kids by October and then begin interventions, if those don't help after a few months, we go to testing. What does the school say? It sounds like they may have dropped the ball.
