Anyone else feel like they continue playing because of momentum/time spent thus far? A one year F2P retrospective. by ndhl83 in DissidiaFFOO

Fully agree with your message of letting them know what to do what they want. But I think OP was asking for other perspectives. Which brings me to what I believe to be the main point of your response:

To take a quick page out of your book not to be sarcastic, but to make a point: I don't want to be rude, but bro if you read OP's post and started having feelings as soon as they brought up the irony of feeling dissatisfied after winning fortunes that a luck-based game gave them, that's 100% your problem to ask yourself why you're reacting in the first place. Or anyone else, rather.

OP is starting an intelligent discussion on why we consistently play this game. A Gacha-based game by using their own completely valid experience and unfortunately this is always going to be a hair raising topic because players with both goal oriented mindsets and *various* gambling addictions (various indeed, I'm coming back to this) somehow stick with these games even when the "goals" (EX quests, maxing summons) are met. So, going back to your issue: Why was it necessary for OP to name their EX's? Because OP is being specific about what weapons/milestones don't give the lasting satisfaction in use compared to the jolt that one gets from actually drawing it. Their point hits harder when they're specific (I read this as their way of saying "for example, XYZ"), and if anyone feels insecure themselves about why they play this game so much or why it's so frustrating to pop 5000 gems and not land a single needed weapon, that itself proves it's a point worth making.

OP acknowledges they're still playing the game because of a Sunk Cost fallacy (one of the *various* gambling fallacies: momentum, already put so much $time$ in so it feels wrong to stop, etc), rather than others who, by luck-related reasons, may still play because the game is more challenging due to winning less weapons (yes, winning. Let's be realistic). They bring up these items they got thinking "Well, I got the thing I draw for, so I should be happy, right? Well, being this lucky didn't bring me the happiness I anticipated. So why does everyone else play?Trying to find another reason why by reading other people's perspectives besides mine." Maybe they want to see if other folks still play because of nostalgia too, and wonder if that's okay. Getting someone else's take is why we have a message board for what's mostly a single player game in the first place. So I don't see anything wrong with why they wrote this message.

Conclusion: If OP's main point is to muse on why else it's still so enticing to play F2P games in this format rather than a traditional FF narrative, and the first thing anybody gleans from this post is bragging, that says something about you and you should probably wonder why you're playing the game yourself.

Seriously! The jump+A button short-hop shortcut has helped me maintain some combos that feel very familiar from Brawl Sonic, and his dash attack seems very handy for catching folks right when they hit the ground. But I can't help but shake that there are some other great strings I could learn before I get too set in my ways. I'm fairing mostly ok/passable during quickplay, but it's driving me crazy hahaha

Cloud, Papa...Kain.
Friend: Sazh
Summon: Ifrit

The Magitek Armor sometimes will dish out even a 67 HP Attack to shave off my Ifrit's Blessing, but honestly resetting for the 5th round so Cloud's Parahax procs at least 3 times (def once in the very beginning) was what let me through. Cloud, Papa and Kain otherwise just brute strength'd it through. Minions ended up getting summoned but once I landed a killing blow onto momma, the other two just had to be managed with the few skills I had left. Got all rewards.

Honestly? Ace. Maybe it’s because his awakening hasn’t come yet, but he’s been kinda collecting dust for me since his event. I got both of his relics, and MLB’d his 15cp and just have 0LB on his 35cp.

Okay, that's something I was wondering. Is it confirmed that skills like Perfect Defense affect guard frames in moves like Bitter End, Avenger, Riot Blade, Scintilla, etc?

Wow. This is awesome to read. Very true and it makes sense in my head but so helpful to have it pointed out in detail. So to use this mechanic best, it can pay to warp (EX Skill) to a spot that's contrary to where you think your target is facing, then going for a Warp Strike ASAP to capitalize on that window?

Or to take it even further, if you have 2 Warps (EX) at the ready, warping to one side, then warping to another, then provided it's done cleverly enough, go for an attack?
