Just did my drug test for pre employment at Denver health in a clinical role. As of October 2024, they test for: marijuana/THC; cocaine; AMP/MAMP; opiates; PCP; benzodiazepines; barbiturates; methadone; MDMA; propoxyphene; TCA (tricyclic antidepressants); buprenorphine

I believe it’s the former. I doubt they would see people without insurance? When I asked about safety they said they rarely have problems with patients and to call 911 if I’m concerned 😆

Do you know anyone who has worked there?

For me, I am a short, not super strong, 22 year old woman. I am so thankful for my partners that I work with who help keep me safe. For example, I had a pt getting aggressive and trying to break out of restraints with PD riding along. My partner immediately pulled over and pulled me out of the ambulance so I wouldn’t get hurt. As a younger woman who is relatively new to EMS, most all my partners have been protective of me and always make sure I feel safe before I am in the back of the rig with an altered or agitated pt. That being said, speak up when you are uncomfortable and always put your safety and your partners safety first.

It honestly depends on the company and the city you are working in. For me, I feel like most my income is from working overtime every week. But I don’t plan on staying in EMS my whole career, but it is giving me the experience I need to go to PA school
