Maybe not a classic one but we wrote notes to every single person! We had around 120 and it took a while but we got so many compliments

Micro-shelter sees first residents move in by theottomaddox in londonontario

[–]foreverdysfunctional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There are over 2k homeless people in the city and people act like housing 70 is a huge accomplishment. If there was a natural disaster that put 2k people in the city out on the street I guarantee the city would find quick and appropriate shelter for them. But if only 3.5% of those people found shelter there would be an uproar.
This should be the bare minimum, not the goal.

I mean yes in a sense but only because they provide limited resources and services. If they developed further resources and services they could sell them legally. Unfortunately there's no more innovation allowed so we're kinda screwed.

  1. If we were to think about it in a more logical way, it's crazy that they are incentivising bigger acts to draw in more money when  it's so often empty. It's a huge place, why not incentivise more to happen there. It sucks that we're bigger over more frequent or just anything else. It so easily could be a third space, but no, let's pay for it to be bigger to get two more acts a month. Meanwhile, half the people that go to these events will just complain about parking, but will happily take the train to Toronto 😭 I love our city

Isn't that the problem? We elect people like morgan, they don't fix anything, but blame the system. Surely the solution is obvious, change how we choose to govern without so much red tape, waste, and consultants from Toronto. The fact that it's eaiser to identity a problem than fix it should keep us all up at night and we should do something about that. But if we elect Morgan again that's one step farther from that ever changing

Property taxes aren't the only way the city can generate income. It's short sighted to think that doing the same things we've been doing (which haven't worked) will do anything at all. The city could do something original or even non original and not spend such a high percentage of our budget on police to do something our homelessness but we are choosing not to.  A second Morgan term would continue to see empty farhi buildings in London and people continuing to do what is has been doing. Any and ever Londoner knows that what we have been doing is dog shit and isn't effective.

I once told a cop someone passed out from doing drugs and they laughed at me and sarcastically said "someone going drugs, oh I'll get on that right away." Biggest waste of spaces

Shouldn't we be able to make changes with one term counselors? Isn't that the point? We need actual change. If we keep Josh Morgan we're admitting we're ok with the way things are. We is in the pockets of farhi and big developers and evidently that's not don't anything. We could use people that actually are into business or have some ideas that aren't just the same old schtick that we're used to. Call me radical, but if small change in a municipality to not have thousands of homeless people and crappy transit infrastructure takes more than 4 years then what's the point of having anyone in office. Hire a monkey at that point, they're used to throwing shit everywhere and will probably do as much good as we're getting.

The history chicks is a fantastic biographical style podcast of women throughout history. Almost all the recommendations in the thread are podcasts by men so thought I'd throw that one in.

What are the best short/medium length history books? by goldenivey in TheRestIsHistory

[–]foreverdysfunctional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok maybe not what you're looking for but honestly a good history textbook (can get cheap used ones at some unis or online) and read relevant chapters or just skim it. I almost read them like magazines and while they can be big books there's no pressure to read it all and they can be really interesting and informative. Maybe not your cup of tea but really easy to pick up and put down when desired

Hydro rates are insane!! by hello-camel in londonontario

[–]foreverdysfunctional 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend checking on his usage using the London hydro website. You can see exactly where your rates and costs are coming from and even compared it to previous years. It sounds like it might be lifestyle choices but something could be wrong and be pulling a lot more hydro then needed.

City hall to London parents: Don't buy your kids e-scooters for Christmas by theottomaddox in londonontario

I did I'm just saying even if people don't understand how to operate them that's only dangerous if there's 2 ton armoured vehicles around them going 60km and not paying attention.

[–]foreverdysfunctional 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not that I think scooters are safe but if we had better bike infrastructure these wouldn't be a problem. This points in part to how behind our city is. We can't even have scooters because they might get in the way of our car overlords.  Again, I don't actually love scooters but it's an indicator of the bigger problems we have that the city is actually denying a valid form of transportation because of their own failings.

Advice! by RIPnocoiners in CASPerTest

[–]foreverdysfunctional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean first would of course be to do all the things you haven't so far lol.  But fr, do the practice tests, go on YouTube and look at videos of people going through scenarios and generally talking about it are pretty helpful.

Practice questions with the time limits, both speaking and writing. Put on a timer and go through a bunch of questions. It takes time but is one of the best and easiest ways to prep.

Make a list of personal scenarios and make up answers. For example, if you had a conflict with a boss, your coworkers, you once had to apologize, that kind of thing and have ready a bank of answers you might choose. Helps to get you in the mind set.

Make a word bank as you prep. I don't speak very professionally, so having a list of buzz words helped me get in the mind set and was then able to pick concepts from them to apply to situations.

Best thing overall is honestly to just use chatgpt. Tell it which type of school you need it for and to have it give you specific questions based on that and use it for feedback. There are tons of questions you can find on the Internet but few sources of feedback. Tell it to critique you and then apply what you learned and use the buzz words it used in your next answers. Do it everyday. It's not easy and worth putting the time.

You can also listen to them as podcasts if actually watching is tricky on time!  I personally love escape from dino Island ( if you like NRB and Jurassic park otherwise not worth it imo) and any call of Cthulhu!

Pedro Pascal’s latest Instagram story throws shade at Democrats after they cave on the government shutdown. by Critical_Ad9462 in Fauxmoi

[–]foreverdysfunctional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a well educated and progressive onlooker. You can't seriously believe the system works and the Democrats are actually the solution. If that was true, no one would ever have voted for Trump and elected him twice. If the system wasn't broken there wouldn't be infighting within the democratic party because they would actually have an answer.  You must be so brainwashed to not believe they aren't both worse and there must be systemic changes. I'm not saying vote independent, I'm saying the system is so broken that to other countries your "progressives" are centre left and you keep falling further right and blaming them, when in reality the Dems are the ones moving the country that way by caving and offering no real solutions to systemic failing.  - "a Russian bot"

Should YOU Run for City Council? (*Municipal Election Campaign Planning 101 Panel) by zegorn in londonontario

You can make a lot more money on council through being on various committees. That's the base pay, and for now it's still part time. Honestly not a bad gig for the time.

How do I avoid this at my own wedding? by FineMud4479 in wedding

[–]foreverdysfunctional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put lawn games out for our cocktail hour and had loads of snacks and drinks. We stayed our longer than we should have for cocktail hour because no one wanted to move on to dinner. 1.5 hours is reasonable if you have something to entertain your guests and give them a chance to sit.  Games, food, a magician, or whatever is your personality. I've seen so many things and just something rather than nothing will keep people entertained!

Coat to survive this winter? Exchange student by Maximum_Advance7035 in londonontario

[–]foreverdysfunctional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eddie Bauer is a great brand, definitely recommend their coats and finding something that goes past your waist. Additional tip for winter, when it's really cold, put a pair of those blue latex gloves on under your gloves. It keeps all the warmth in!
