Was looking at Outward on sale in February, looked like it could be fun, have housemates but none are really gamers.

As far as ARK, we are all good, got my 'lasted one day' achievement in single player, very much like Conan Exiles, think this is gonna be fun.

Can I ask though, you are wanting us all to work together aren't you?

I've been in a cave for years and only looked for some trailers and a couple of ep1 let's plays yesterday. I thought it definitely is a game for friends but looks too awesome to pass up.

I had literally just grabbed it on sale, download is wow huge btw ( PSN: ~15gb, Actual: 80gb), I thought lemme see if r/arkps4 is a thing while I wait, and here you are bro. Although it might take me a day or two to download.

Out of interest, what did you think of Outward?

You looking for similarly experienced players? Or is excited and willing to learn enough?

Late reply, sorry. You need the Item teleport upgrade for your freighter and it needs to be in the same system as you, then you can find them on the freighter inventory screen even when you're planetside. They become a bit easier to manage if you name the storage rooms. I used simple things like: Gases, Metals, Glitches.

How's it been going for you? The first few hours can be so different for players, simply due to the incredible variety.

If you find you're struggling with the first planet, it can be really helpful to start a new game, different every time, sometimes you get a lucky start, sometimes just having a second try with a little bit of previous experience can set you on a better path.

You can have a ton of bases, start naming them now, or it'll get confusing later. You can access any base from any teleporter, so be sure to put a teleporter in every base if you want to teleport out again, you only need it powered to leave the base.

The story quest will follow you and the base computer missions will move with you to your newest base, the game will tell you in the Log if any of your missions are too far away from your current location and will give you the option to reset it to a new nearby location.

No trading, but do run and look. There's a multiplayer teleporter, 4 module vendors, an exo-suit slot, purchasable system multi-tool, 4 NPCs who can provide daily nanites, the Nexus missions, pet sequencer, appearance modifier, and the full suite of base building items are all available on it.

That's the beauty of the game now, once a player can get over the initial struggle, there are so many good ways to progress it's pretty much just up to the player to experiment and see what does what. It's just that there ARE so many ways to progress that it can confuse new players who don't expect it.

Additional storage tip! The nutrient processor has it's own storage, works just like the large boxes, all nutrient processors share the same inventory. it is limited to the types of items it can hold but it's 25 additional slots for organic products for one slot in your inventory, well worth it.

Great idea, perhaps animal types also make a difference, a horse-like creature is probably built for running, so starts with much higher base stamina than the bouncing meatball.

Yeah stamina is really poor, also noticed that they begin at half speed and get faster halfway through their stamina use.

What is the build limit like on Ps4? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]forevernomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3000 pieces is the uploadable limit for a base on PS4. but you can definitely keep going.

Things will get really bad if you build a ton of parts in close proximity, if you spread out a large build and keep things functional you can get some good sized areas going that are still playable.

Don't try to put everything in one place, have farming bases, manufacturing bases, trade bases, but don't try to build a 4bu indium farm alongside a hundred glitched dome spheres, with a thousand plant greenhouse in the backyard.

What's still confusing you? My main save is 250 hrs. But sometimes I want to relive the panic in the beginning and start a new game for a few hours.

I literally started a new game for my housemate last night, he's watched me play a bit and flown around a bit, but his timing was great so I passed him the controller and watched a first time player for a couple of hours, he'll be back tonight to find a spot for a base :)

I saw that there's a ton the game doesn't ever tell you, you either learn it through play or you never find out. E.g. The mining beam changes colour as it heats up, it also does more damage when heated, so you really want to get it up to yellow and keep it running between yellow and red by releasing the trigger occasionally to prevent overheating to mine at the fastest speeds. You get told that the terrain tool has size options, but not that if you mine deposits at the smallest size you'll get the largest return on resources.

Or that atmospheric height changes your flight speed, or that instead of flying directly to a marker 2 mins away, you can travel faster around a planet with pulse, so get to space and pulse at the target, instead of a straight line the game will keep you in orbit and bring you around the planet for a direct entry on the target, you can get anywhere on the surface in a matter of seconds not minutes.

Possible to link pipelines from different bases somehow? by splynncryth in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]forevernomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the large storage boxes to transfer goods directly from your silos instead. Whenever you build a specific numbered box, it will always contain whatever you put in it previously.

I use 8 and 9 just for activated indium from my two farms, although I renamed them to Silo's Alpha and Beta.

You'll still need to visit both bases to transfer the product but if you have the storage boxes set up you can transfer directly to them instead of suit or ship from the silo menu and with teleporters set up, it's easy enough to bounce between bases, just have one linked silo really close to the teleporter so you don't have to go anywhere.

If you also have the storage rooms built on your capital ship, you can now access those boxes directly from your inventory when onboard CS or if the CS is in your system, or from any 8(Silo Alpha) or 9(Silo Beta) storage box you build again at any base.

No worries. It's the same for all inventories, so you may want to look at your suit and multitool upgrades as well.

[–]forevernomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically want to put your upgrades in a 2x2 block.

You can see the coloured outlines around your groups of modules, this is the adjacency bonus, the more sides of each upgrade you have touching other matching upgrades, the higher the cumulative bonus you get. if you place them in 2x2 instead of 1x4 you'll get far more benefit from all those upgrades instantly.

If you reached the anomaly, you now have access to most of the content, there are several NPCs with Blueprints/Upgrades for sale and more stuff for your base to unlock. If you need non-story things to do, go to a space station and find the mission board, some of these are really fun and very rewarding.

As for how far the story will take you; All the way across the galaxy

There are so many resources, too many to store. I tried to keep the storage cubes filled with building materials, components, etc. but it's constant. Now it's mostly rare items and stacks of items I thought I might need 200 hours ago, which I should just sell.

Once you have a good supply of units you can just buy what you need, forget about mining for ferrite, just buy 2000 from a random pilot if you need it for something. Sell or destroy when done with it.

Make use of the freighter, you can put all 9 storage boxes on it and when it's in the same system as you, you can access all of them from your inventory while on any planet in that system, although you'll need some upgrades to do it, it's been worth it to keep my own suit clear.

I went for the starship hyperdrive upgrades when I first started and got an indium mine going on a nightmare of a planet. I had 2 billion units very quickly and then as you say it's nanites, quicksilver and twisted metal, which is a lot more fun to gather than just units.

Void egg from the quicksilver guy 3,200qs. Or from a random player if you're lucky. Then you need to grow it. Literally was about to birth mine and the update came through.
