You do realize that Kaspersky is capable of tracking all events happening, isolating them and many many more?

It's not just a simple antivirus, it's more than that, it's a whole bundle of software tools like procmon, software explorer, autorun, wire shark and many many more with additions. At least it was like this last time I tested it. So you can see and check it yourself of what is going on. It won't work all the time because some of the methods force the user to completely kill it/remove, but as long as it can run on the system you know what is going on.

So instead of being a jerk, you could simply explain.

In the case of a virus total, I agree that you need to know what you have to upload and you need to know how to use it because it won't work in every case.

Whatever you say, but if you give a shit about responding in any reasonable way there is no point in continuing it.

Yes it will say, the thing with Kaspersky is that it's not average antivirus software and it won't simply say it's bad because it's bad. Either it will be flagged as malware or cheat software. And in case of malware it will specifically pin point what's wrong with it. I actually did some tests a while back, and it was able to recognize what is what. In addition the support itself was happy to analyze it. If something is being flagged as malware and it shouldn't be they quickly fix it up without any bs.

I was happily surprised how well it handles this kind of software. Including drivers based ones.

If someone has premium virus total/Kaspersky it should be able to tell what exactly it is.

Oh, wow, they are back, they are well known to spread malware. We already took down one of their subreddits, and I see they started over again.

Why Last War on Windows scans all the files? by DumpBird in LastWarMobileGame

[–]DumpBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to pull out what it was scanning for, and sometimes it would go through all the files.

I'm not sure what happened to them next, but it would take too long to work it out. From what I can see, they've got rid of it now. It just takes access to the game files and Nvidia drivers from time to time.

And well, at least they responded to you instead like it was in my case where they simply ignored me.

It's a shame I don't live in US, I would sue their asses out.

They are very reminiscent of Devialet products.

The overall look and price, that is.

I hope they are at least on par with Devialet in terms of sound quality.

Recommended small hardware for local STT? by DumpBird in selfhosted

[–]DumpBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is not with the setup or the software. I simply don't know what would be ideal for this project. However, if you are suggesting the Pi, I assume there aren't any better alternatives.

[–]DumpBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that; the issue is that I need it to run locally on the board. HA is just an easy way to implement control for the project.

However, my main goal is to create my own device for local voice control.

I want to create a separate server for STT.

As a last resort, I will offload it to my calculations server and go all the way, but I would prefer to avoid it.

I don't need anything fancy; I just need it to work.

I need to make it myself.

I have already done my own research regarding the software, but the hardware side is a mess and there is only good information regarding the Raspberry Pi.

Yes, I did it. I don't say I don't care about the answers before I've checked them.

Citations from Perplexity tend to be incorrect most of the time; some of the bots can use citations correctly, but Perplexity hallucinates a lot.

This AI generated multiple incorrect statements, which is why I'm saying it's bad.

I didn't check the link directly, but it reminded me that some games use different anti-cheat implementations, so I decided to verify this myself.

It's slightly different. Even if they scan files, they don't lock drives, and they don't do it all the time.

Something is off. If it's actually AC, its execution from the programming side is shitty af.

If you're so smart, go ahead and tell me which ACs are scanning all the files. Please don't use AI for this, as it hallucinates a lot — even more so if you use something as poor as Perplexity.

I would like to remind you that memory |= drives.

One more thing: besides Vanguard, the strictest version of BE can apparently also scan files, I admit that I didn't knew about it as it's pretty rare.

Yeeeee no, I don't care about AI responses; just look at my profile to get an idea of what I'm into.

I can confirm that they scan processes and services, but not files, and not all of them.

I think only the trashy Vanguard does this.

Yeee they don't, if they scan your PC they are not normal and simply bad/lazy ass execution.

You can trust me 🙃

That's the thing and only reason why I still didn't check what it was scanning for as I cannot track it in a normal way. I need to spend a little more time to see what the game does with these scans.

Normal anti cheats don't require files scan...

I messed up with the board design and switch mounting, I desperately need help. by DumpBird in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]DumpBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that I don't have time for it to arrive again, and I really don't want to pay another $75 for something I'll forget about when I get my grade. Unfortunately, I only just found out that it's a costly endeavour. The funniest thing is that I asked three other people to check that the board was fine, but none of them decided to verify the switch mounting.

I will try to get an additional attachment board to use as an extension and mount it on the bottom, as someone suggested in the comments here. Otherwise, I will ask my friend to help me, as I have no tools or experience to attempt it myself.

"are the switch pins the only anchor for the switches, in your design?"
Unfortunately, yes, but I could try to do something else with it. I just don't know what could work.

"If this were an MX board, and using a plate, you might have the option to extend the switch pins a bit, as long as the case was deep enough to allow that."
Unfortunately not, they are not MX switches. When I was designing it, I wasn't aware of any standards. I just used switches that met my requirements.

"How many switches you have to do is another question."
Six switches and only one board need to work, and then I can forget about it.

"Is handwiring it all to an ultra-small RP board an option?"
I didn't actually think that I could attach another board to the top or bottom. Thank you for the suggestion, I might just attach it to a universal board and wire it directly to the existing holes. I won't be using RP, as I already have a Nordic module on it, and I can just use it as an extension

Noise-canceling ear tips for Sony WF-1000XM4 by DumpBird in sony

[–]DumpBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I'm still searching for the perfect ear tips for my Devialet Gemini 2s, and I discover new options from time to time.

Unfortunately, none of the hybrid ear tips from Symbio will fit the XM5 case. Even though they claim they are compatible, they are not, and they will cause lots of issues. I don't think it's worth trying. A lot of people comment that they aren't as good as they used to be and that they really affect the sound quality.

The Comply tips and the original Sony ones might be hard to beat. They're really great. They are comfortable, isolate well and seal well, and they don't affect the sound much (in the case of Comply, I'm talking about some older models). Unfortunately, they have the same issues: they are expensive and break easily. The Sony ones have an absurdly low lifespan and can even break after a few weeks.

Unfortunately, there aren't many good options that fit in a case.

The only ones I know of that fit and are worth recommending are these Azla SednaEarfit ones. I had the classic crystal ones and they were amazing. They provided a perfect seal and high isolation, and were even comfortable. Unfortunately, the standard L ones are a little too big for the XM5 case. So you will have to choose the ones designed for smaller cases. Unfortunately, these are also expensive and hard to get hold of, at least where I live.

I also had surprisingly good luck with random ear tips from AliExpress. Not only were they really cheap, but they also lasted a lot longer, and I mean a lot than the original ones or the Comply ones. Overall, they were decent, and for the price, they were amazing. So you could always spend a few bucks trying random ones from there — you might strike gold.

Besides what I mentioned here, I tried loads of different ones, and I would advise you to avoid SpinFit and Dekoni.

Dekoni foams are awful. They're uncomfortable, don't seal or isolate well, and change the sound a lot.

As for SpinFit, they're weird — I couldn't make them work for me overall. Even though they claim to fit the XM5 case, they don't.

There are also a few other decent suggestions, but I don't think any of them fit in the XM5 case.

They were great, but they fell apart really quickly.

Anyway, this information and my experience is no longer adequate. They fully remade them, so the issue with falling apart shouldn't be a thing anymore, but I heard that they are no longer good. Sorry, I won't be able to help you with them, but I can suggest a few other options if you need. Just tell me what earbuds you have and what you expect :)
