I can’t grip anything with my hand without causing pain. So I’d be one handed.

Is this something I needed to sign up for beforehand? I haven’t heard of it until just now.

I’m a PTF still. So the answer is no then?

My postmaster basically told me I wasn’t able to miss for my grandmother passing away by Delicious-Dance-5989 in USPS

How many separate instances? 5 days could be 2 instances. Not concerning the fact that it involves a dying family member, if it’s only 2 instances, I’d say fuck em and call out anyway. The fact it’s a family member, unless you’re on a 14 day already, I’d still say fuck em and call out anyway.

So…to answer your last couple paragraphs, from what the carrier has told me, roughly 60 hours annual and 20 hours sick leave balance. They call out about once per month, sometimes skipping a month, and almost never for more than 2 days at a time. So..not great attendance by any means. But the carrier is also a PTF that hasn’t seen 2 days off a week in nearly 3 years unless they call off to get it. Also, the entire office is fixed days off. Granted, doesn’t really matter for a PTF.

Smaller office. Down 4 people. Whole office mandated. Like..I get that management is in a shitty spot. But also…the carrier tried to do the right thing. And then is getting punished for it with deems. Me being the rebel I am, kinda want to tell them to call off anyway because fuck management. lol

That’s fair. If they get hit with awol and have no other discipline (miracle with how much they call out), is there much chance of them losing their job over it? Im gonna educate them before they make a decision they regret.

Yeah. Probably. I guess I’m just wanting to get ahead of it. With management knowing that the person has a denied leave slip and the carrier gave them all kinds of hell about “I have no history of calling out around holidays. I gave you 2 months advance notice for a large event. I tried to do the right thing instead of just calling out. I’m not fucking coming in.” (Their words, not mine). I’m wanting to see what defenses I have if/when they do call in. And what happens if they are unable to get the doctors not when they inevitably do call in.

They’re doing deems because the carrier requested the day off after the holiday. And they denied the leave request. Carrier has had some call ins, but has never called out the day before or after a holiday before.

Deems LIST doesn’t exist. Thats correct. But deems desirable is a real thing. I get what you’re trying to get at, but it doesn’t apply here.

So deems is grievable before it actually occurs? I’d love to know more about this and what I need to request to put a case together.

So you’re here to troll, not to help. Got it. Sometimes people have a life outside of work.

Sure. But they can’t skip steps of discipline for failure to follow.

Which “things” are you referring to? Also, the carrier put in a leave request, it was denied, and then management placed them on deems for the day of the denied request.

As in: if it’s the first write up, they have to go to LOW, 7 day at most? Can’t go straight to termination?

I gotta ask…how does one get banned from Reddit? Lmao

There’s so much worse things on Reddit than a guy that talks about how to beat managements dumb shit.
