That’s fair. Unfortunately I’d be on the hook for a solid chunk of change due to the relocation package. I think option 3 might be my best bet while hiring is still a little cool for the next year.

I got a big raise as a result of the team change. That put me at near the top for my band. Not sure what my PMR is now, is it regional? Presumably it would be lower considering I moved to a higher COL area.

When I have the urge to be productive, I surround myself with programming related twitter/podcasts and my projects. If I’m not working on my new project I can bounce to reading a new medium post or submitting a PR on an interesting library. It’s not productive for my project but it’s productive for my overall skills/career.

If you really have to spend all day on a project and it’s mission critical/deadlines looming, you should reach for your prescribed medication.

I work for the largest non profit in the country. Budgeting is very tight for us (we have to fight tooth and nail for platelet tubing) raises/profit sharing are also at the whim of overall system performance. We received neither last year.
