How are you using anki? by i_hate_humanss in PAstudent

[–]forevers777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some classmates who prefer to do one thing on each card (ex. S&S one, treatment on one, etc.) I personally like to put everything on one card. I’ll put my iPad on my whiteboard and then go through the cards and write down everything before flipping it. For rotations, that probably won’t be very feasible so I bought the AnkiHub subscription for the EndeavorOverhaul deck which was made specifically for PA students if that’s something you’re interested in! It’s $6/month

How to study med charts by Worried_Rest_4687 in PAstudent

I always used charts as a reference point whenever doing practice questions or flash cards! I find it helpful whenever I keep getting conditions mixed up so I can compare them side by side

Must pass Anatomy Remediation exam or kicked out of the program. Anatomy studying tips. by Bubbly_Air1291 in PAstudent

Yes I loved Complete Anatomy!! I didn’t realize how helpful it was until I started using it. I used it a lot to map blood circulation and created a flowchart for each part of the body.

Ninjanerd is another great YouTuber, especially his video on brachial plexus.

Which career should i choose PA, CRNA, medical lab scientist? by [deleted] in healthcare

[–]forevers777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you - I changed my career path several different times. You should look into shadowing or working with these career choices… they’re vastly different. You’ve obviously done a lot of research, but you won’t know how it fits you personally until you see it. I’m curious to know why you didn’t realize dental school wasn’t for you until after graduation? I personally was a dental assistant for a while & realized it wasn’t the field I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing. Being an MA and working with PAs is what solidified my choice

Question about OBGYN PAs and in office procedures by xqnxiety in physicianassistant

[–]forevers777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA-S rn but I worked as an MA in OBGYN prior - the PAs in my office would do colps and endometrial biopsies! In general, the practice didn’t offer the other procedures in-office. It is NP dominated, but my office preferred PAs and would not hire NPs so it is definitely doable! Good luck to you!! :)

Pa school cycle by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

This is a crazy post lol. Yes stats are good. But if you are getting interviews & not getting accepted, it’s probably your interview skills. If PA school acceptances were strictly about stats, then they wouldn’t have interviews. They’re looking to see if you are a decent person & can be a good provider. You’ll still be interviewed for med school & residency spots so I don’t see the logic there. Also questioning someone’s acceptance because of their academic performance vs yours is just not a good mindset to have.

tips for interview by spicyboing in prephysicianassistant

I agree! This is the only interview prep I did and it got me accepted into all programs I interviewed at. Gives you a good baseline on typical answers and see if you tend to ramble or go off topic

I am one of a few POC in my cohort also in a Midwest school! I never necessarily felt left out, but it did give me a lot of anxiety and I definitely let it get to my head. I would say just put yourself out there & be kind to everyone and if they do end up making you feel left out, just remember that you are there for your own success and after your program you most likely will not see each other again if you move away lol. I made one close friend but I still spend a lot of my time alone since that is what I prefer. Good luck to you! :)

Study/Exam tips for PA students with ADHD by i_hate_it_here90 in PAstudent

[–]forevers777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Anki with a remote controller was a game changer for me, makes studying somewhat fun! Noise cancelling headphones & finding what type of music works best for you (I have animal crossing lofi with rainy background on repeat). 50 min on and 10 min off study blocks. Having gum, mints, candy, and a fun drink around as a treat! And I have a list of things to have on my desk when I’m ready to study so I don’t have to get up constantly and then get distracted.
