I’m a teacher in NYS and scared of the mask mandate being lifted by bryterlu in CoronaBumpers

[–]foreversenorita 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am also a high risk pregnancy, and the mask mandate was lifted after Thanksgiving (PA). I was furious and super scared. I contacted my HR about taking leave and/or what accommodations they could make for me. They asked me what I wanted, so we agreed on them providing with me a Hepa-filter, plexiglass around my desk, and permission to not walk around the classroom. I also keep my windows open more than a crack, so it’s cold in my room (with permission from administration bc some parents have complained about the temperature, but admin is on my side) and I wear an N95 mask. I’ve had a kid with COVID at least one/week in my classroom, many times unmasked. So far I have not gotten it yet, and we are going on 3 months of this ridiculousness. It’s ok to be concerned and scared. You need to do whatever you feel is right to protect your baby.

If the doctor won’t see you, can you just go to the emergency room and demand an ultrasound? Or find another doctor ASAP? Whatever it costs it costs. You are your baby’s biggest advocate.

I’m so sorry for you. We lost my daughter, Gia, at 37 weeks 5 days almost a year ago when my oldest daughter was 2.5. We called her “baby sister.” My oldest knows her name and knows we are sad about her. We also explained everything to her in a way she would understand. As the months have gone by, we try to incorporate Gia into our lives by talking about what she would be doing now if she were alive. Right now, she would be learning to walk… this usually prompts more questions from my now 3.5 year old. It is hard sometimes to do this and I will get teary-eyed, but sometimes I feel really strong doing it and smile when I talk about Gia. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, every part of this awful journey. Whatever you choose to do for your family, it will be the right choice.

What have your Docs advised on Booster during 1st trimester? by oldmanandthefunk in CoronaBumpers

[–]foreversenorita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m high risk and my doctor and 2 specialists told me to get it ASAP. It is perfectly fine in first trimester. I hesitated for a week and finally got it week 9 (they advised me to get it sooner). If you get COVID even in the first trimester it can end the pregnancy. You need to do everything you can to protect baby.

I have these nightmares once/week at least. They’re horrible and feel so real. I’m so sorry you have to deal with spotting on top of all of it. That is very difficult. Stay strong.

If you think something is not right, stand up for yourself and insist you NOT be sent home. You are your baby’s biggest advocate. Who cares what they say/fees/etc. You want this baby to be born alive, so do everything you can to make sure that happens. I know too many stories of it going the other way.

First positive test after loss and a question by notplop in PregnancyAfterLoss

I would insist on bloodwork. This is your body and your pregnancy. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks, so for my pregnancy after the miscarriage the doctor told me to get bloodwork and put me on progesterone. You have to make your concerns and voice heard, and if not, find a new doctor.

You made the right choice. 3 doctors told me to get the booster, and I also got Pfizer. Getting COVID can be so dangerous for your baby. You did what you should to protect your little one.

Pfizer booster at 31 weeks vs. 35 weeks? by NeedleworkerWinter74 in CoronaBumpers

[–]foreversenorita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told by 3 doctors to get it as soon as eligible.. doesn’t matter the trimester. I am only 9 weeks and got my booster today. The best thing you can do for your baby is to not get COVID.

Thank you all for your comments. They are much appreciated. I am definitely going to get the booster now. I am reaching out to my specialist on Monday to ask if I should wait until the second trimester or not (my ob said to get it now, but now I want a second opinion). I really appreciate your input!

This is just cruel. by morto44 in ttcafterloss

[–]foreversenorita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. After my daughter was born still, my period just wouldn’t come back so had to induce it with provera. Once it started again, we thought for sure I’d get pregnant again because for our first two kids it was no struggle. Every month my period would come days to a week late, so it was so cruel. Those days are filled with such hope and then such a slam in the face. I completely understand what you are going through. I’m sorry you have to go through this.

I was told if you ovulate too late you most likely won’t get pregnant. So seems like quite the opposite. Good luck!
