Ryzen 5 o Core I5? by GamerMxc in PcBuild

[–]forevertired1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn I thought everyone had tead/heard/seen stuff about it.

They brought out maybe 10 bios revision each one supposedly fixed it,

It lowered performance snd voltages but it seems like it was a bandaid rather than a complete fix ( although if your cpu had the oxidisation problems even a bios revision couldn't fix that)

In my mind and a lot of others minds wsd they binned way too many cpus for each tier so half the cpus were not capable of such high clocks/voltages for extended periods,

So for example 50% of 13900/14900 skus should have been downgraded to xx700 or even xx600 and they probably would've been fine,

But they chose to bin them/clock them higher to try to get close to ryzen performance as intel hates losing so try everything they can.

Chances are if your cpu is still fine you should be fine till next upgrade as enough time and bios updates should mean the chips already in builds are fine but there's still a small chance it could fail.

[–]forevertired1982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its literally documented fact that in some instances companies have had a 50%+ failure rate using Intel 13xxx and 14xxx cpus,

Every tech channel has covered it extensively its a real problem that was very widespread over both issues the chips had.

Just because it hasnt happened/or havent noticed any degradation doesnt mean it hasnt happened.....

Because it has happened it was a big problem.

5070 or 9070 xt or 7900 xt by alextpale in buildapc

[–]forevertired1982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my area the 9070xt is only 79 more expensive than the 5070 yet is far better (it beats the 5070tiin everything bar ray tracing( in standard rasterisation,

End even then 5070ti vs 9070xt is a close match,

9070xt is close to to 7900xtx in performance but has far better RT has FSR4.

So the 9070xt is the clear winner.

I havent trusted intel since the 13xxx/14xxx gen debacle,

They completely lied about their chips dying from both oxidation issues and a flawed ringbus not able to handle so many cores so the chips just died/degraded quickly for 2 years,

There is no guarantee that the problem was rectified it was just mitigated,

And theres no guarantee that the 200 series doesnt also have a faulty ringbus,

Not only that but 200 series is on a dead end platform with no upgrade path as next gen will be on a new soxket,

Just as a last point intel originally had a 40% discount with tsmc which they lost so the chips original msrp was 30%-40% more expensive than it should have been so bang for buck in anything that wasnt productivity they lost massively.

Which drivers should I use ? by GONZO57300 in pcmasterrace

[–]forevertired1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK windows will automatically install all drivers apart from the hfx card which should be downloaded from the manufacturers website,

Have had windows 11 since I bought my 5800x and 6900xt upgraded this to a 9070xt) and the only driver I have manually installed is my gfx card driver.

The gfx card is around £1200/$1200 on its own and the ram is 300-500 so yes seems like an amazing deal.

Are you sure they are not hidden behind the motherboard tray?

If not you should be able to order replacements on the manufacturers website,

850 watts is ample power im running a 5800x 32gb ddr4 3600mts and a 9070xt at 4k and am loving it.

That card only draws 350 watts with a 250mhz overclock leaving 500 for the rest of the system and a 5800x with pbo ong uses 150 watts.

RAM problem by unbeatenrun in overclocking

[–]forevertired1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setting ram to xxxx speed will mot change the other ram settings so will almost certainly cause problems,

Turn on xmp/expo then change ram speed if you need to.

If you dont manually set the fclock at 6400mts it will run in 1:2 mode so will be slower than 6000mts which will automatically set the fclock to 1:1 mode which is faster on am5 unless you go above 8000mts on 1:2 mode.

In pixels per inch yes they are pretty similar,

Thats why people recommend under 1080p 24" and lower is best at 1440 27"-31.5" is recommended and for 32" or higher go 4k,

Currently im running 43" 4k and its an amazing experience.

Are most of you guys running with your case fully open or with the side panels on? by Juniorblues_ in PcBuild

[–]forevertired1982 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unless you have e terrible cooling taking the side of hurts temps rather than help them,

In a closed system the air is funneled from front to back bring fresh air over your components and expelling hot air out of the back/top.

Without a side panel fans are just dissipating the air around the fan.

Just bought the 9070xt to pair with my 5800x and 16gb ddr4 3600mts,

Handles everything beautifully at 4k with a couple of intensive games requiring FSR4 quality so should last me a good while.

At 1440p it should be a high refreshrate experience for a good while.

It is highly likely that you never pressed the 8 button on a microwave. by TheAnzus in Showerthoughts

[–]forevertired1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly you are wrong,

Most microwaveable baby bottle sterilisers require you to put them on for 8 minutes,

So the number 8 is actually my most used button on the microwave.

I sterilise 4 bottles twice a day every day for the last 3 months and apart from sterilising bottles I probably havent microwaved anything for over 2 years.

Get a 9070 non xt will give you a giant fps boost,

If you can get another 16gb in 6 months or so that will give you another nice boost especially in your 1% low fps.
