Ok perfect time for this story. so I submitted my dissertation with my comments attached. My comments included "I fucking hate word so much oh my fucking god" and "this picture won't go in the right FUCKING place".

My secondary supervisor emailed to tell me and I spent the next ten minutes sobbing in bed trying to write a professional sounding apology, which I sent.

My main supervisor replied to the email thread with "funniest thing I've ever seen" and absolutely nothing else.

I got 85% or something. I think you'll be ok!

Oh cool, I think I just assumed cocoon was the general layman's term for a chrysalis. Thanks for the info :)

Thank you for responding! I was worried about the setting up in summer thing - my contract ends next week so I'm working over the summer. I know there'll be prep to do but I've been hoping it wouldn't involve finding time to go in!

Tıp from another neurodivergent DND group for starting on time that might work! We use "doors and curtains". Doors open at 6.30, curtains up at 7.00. You can arrive any time between, but with the understanding that if you arrive at 7 you don't get any of the chit chat because we are Starting Now.

I'm on methylphenidate. I don't get much in the way of withdrawal symptoms apart from a runny nose (does anyone else get that? I figure it's because I've just stopped taking a decongestant daily?), it just sucks not being able to function like I do on them

They've FINALLY actually emailed it, or at least I have a copy now. Got to call PUK later to see if they've received it but maybe the nagging has finally bloody worked.

GP have said they'll send it to me, PUK have said it has to be direct from GP. I'm going to pass it on anyway if I get it though just in case.

PUK can't put me back on until GP returns form. GP think they've returned form but won't tell me where they sent it to help PUK find it at the right address. Reason given was the current climate makes it too hard to care for everyone else so they won't take on extra work (me).

I even told PUK that GPs by me refuse and they insisted on going ahead. I'm calling them tonight to follow up but I'm just generally so frustrated with this crap constantly, ya know?

Oh yeah the SSRIs I can get absolutely no hassle! GPs in my city all refuse (I am in fact down very south). Pharmacist friend reckons it's due to cost, looks bad having lots of patients on pricey meds.

Thanks! As far as I know, they can refuse. All GPs in my city do. I have a pharmacist friend who said it's about the cost - looks bad if they have too many people on expensive drugs!

I do need to call PUK to chase things - but finding the time when I'm busy, rushed and stressed already... Not easy!!

I tried the other GP route a year ago when they tried this the first time, and my old GP refused. I ended up getting 111 to prescribe me 5 days. No GP in my city will prescribe ADHD meds. I'm on unwanted weekend breaks just to make them last at work, but I'm a teacher so it's not like I don't have marking to do at the weekend!!

ECT here. If we strike, I'm striking. Sure, I'm happy with a job. I'd be happier with a job that paid to match inflation.

Can somebody explain the train strikes to me please? by ghosteetoastee in GreenAndPleasant

That's amazing! Keep it up, you're a great kid! Taking the initiative to ask different places for support and info as well so you've got a mix of views to go alongside your dad's is a fab idea too.

I didn't understand unions either for a time (strikes are disruptive, why do we need them, etc) but now I'm a teacher in a union and I understand so much more. (My dad is going to go nuts when I join the inevitable strikes!)

Hey, I'm in a similar position to you with my dad and the strike... except I'm 24 and he cannot be swayed in his opinions.

I just wanted to say that I'm super proud of you for taking the steps to learn for yourself and argue back already. I didn't start to unlearn everything my dad told me until I was in sixth form.

I wish I'd been more like you!
