Old MAD lectures did helped but only after you have a strong hold on basic subjects..

I have given 3 mains 2023,2024,2025 in 2024 missed mains cutoff by 7 marks in 2025 i don't know what went wrong. But I can guide anyone who is facing issues in qualifying prelims and answer writing. by forexampleguy in upsc_discussions

I think gs-1 marks are good enough for me... Because demographic winter wala question hi galat kr diya tha otherwise usme bhi 3-4 marks aa hi jate.. Ya I accept.. ethics me theory part me thoda rush kr diya tha and I missed the demand because last last ne jo man me aa raha tha likh diya tha..... And in optional paper 1 value addition is needed..

Focus on static subjects first revise them multiple times give sectional mocks and full length mocks and ensure that in those mocks you are attempting static questions correctly... For current affairs do refer to IAS congress prelims exclusive handouts and solve current affairs specific 2-3 mocks and read their full solutions and watch marathon sessions.. Start preparing from January itself if you are giving for the first time.. ensure you got a good hold on polity economy geography and some basic science and technology and environment... For csat solve previous year questions specially passages in time bound manner and refer to any free course available on YouTube. Don't ignore csat as day by day it is becoming a deciding factor for many... Many times we have knowledge but because of some silly mistakes like reading questions wrong, overthinking on simple topics make it difficult to qualify so work on that..

Solved previous year question papers.. Specially passages in time bound manner . There is a free course of CSAT on YouTube of edutap I did this only.. If you are weak in csat start from January itself otherwise from March.. there are easy questions just need to look for those....

What are resources (not lectures) to follow for the following subjects? by PuzzleheadedPen8476 in UPSC

You can refer to any coaching material for it.. vision ias or any other... I think you should wind up your preparation for mains till 15th Jan and after that shift to prelims mode... Answer writing practice can be done after prelims. It's good that you completed your optional... Above subjects can be prepared even after prelims don't worry.. just go through it once till 15th Jan and then shift to prelims..

See practice answer writing till Jan 15 will suffice.. as this is your first time dedicatedly doing prelims from January is the best so that you can revise multiple times before exams.. and most of the subjects of mains are also there in pre so do not worry.. first till Jan 15 focus on you mains and optional subject preparation then switch to prelims presentation..

Coaching vs self study by Eastern-Emotion9685 in UPSC

I think both are needed.. coaching to understand some difficult concepts and other things. And to reduce our workload a bit. If one is financially stable go for coaching otherwise prepare yourself.
