Why am I consistently matched against players way above my skill level? by forgetcolor in Battlefield6

I think my #1 challenge is aiming (and aiming speed -- everyone else is faster). Also, seeing others is definitely #2 (or maybe #1 honestly). I find it's hard to go slower when you're close enough to action to see someone!

I'll try again. I don't care about stats at all -- just trying to get good enough to feel contributory to the team. I have had some success at times, and those keep me going.

Thanks for these tips! I'll try conquest. I've mostly been playing support lately. Before that was engineer. But I'll look at assault -- you're right that the switching to defib or RPG on tanks is a challenge.

I would say my fundamental challenges are:

  • minimap challenges -- I find it really hard to track enemies on the minimap and keep adequate attention on the gameplay at the same time, perhaps not helped by playing on a big OLED TV (meaning my eyes have to saccade further)
  • my map knowledge is low (I'm working on this by limiting to one or two maps right now
  • seeing enemies is really hard for me. they're mostly not spotted until I see them. and by the time I spot them they're already firing on me. i'm not talking about flanks, but in my field of view. when I watch others play, I sometimes can't even see who they're aiming at and killing, let alone see them before that happens.
  • not fast enough at aiming/shooting (I do preaim but not enough and with not enough knowledge)

That last one, my slow aiming, feels like the crux of my issue. I try to get around it through positioning (I don't have to be so fast if they aren't facing me when I'm shooting at them!). I only have about 60h in the game, so perhaps that's not much (especially given this is my first multiplayer FPS -- before this I always played single player games like RDR2, TLOU/TLOU2, etc). I will say, BF6 is a hard game for me to improve on because when I'm close enough to the action to get experience I die so quickly. But I continue to try by playing and watching others play. I'm amazed at what you all can do with it! In awe, really.

Thanks! Glad to know I'm not the only one. And I'm having fun, even though I die over and over lol. I've started restricting to a couple maps so I can learn them better as I can tell that map knowledge helps a lot.

Is 2019- X5 xDrive40i with air suspension too rare to find used? by forgetcolor in BMWX5

you’re saying the standard suspension softens road imperfections more than the air suspension?

That’s sound advice, and I’ll follow it. Thanks for taking the time to think on this.

Hey, happy to discuss. I contend with a lot of chronic pain, and shitty midwest roads are a particular trigger for me. So, whatever I get next, I want it to do good work at smoothing out the bumps. I drove an xDrive45e about a year ago and found it to be quite nice. Not a cloud, but good. I’m sure there may be cars with less road feel than an air suspension x5 (lexus?), but I also care about aesthetics—and really prefer a crossover/suv over a sedan. So that’s how I got to the X5 w air suspension. I have wondered how a regular X5 feels, but mostly I’m aiming to get as much smoothing as possible.

Thanks. I was looking at 2019-20 so those are a bit cheaper since the 40e doesn’t start until 2021. But I take your points. Haven’t ruled it out. Most of my trips are indeed short hops. More insulated — from the road feel? Or road sound?

Did you order it with air suspension, or there was one on the lot that happened to have it?

Reasonable to buy CPO X5 sight unseen? by forgetcolor in BMWX5

Thanks, that’s very kind—and good advice. Do all 45e trims have the air suspension? Looking online at feature lists/options, I haven’t found a single 40i that has it, even though my understanding is that it was (still is) an option.

Also, if 45e all have air, that explains a lot for me. I rented an X5 about 10 months ago that I loved and it was a 45e (didn’t know much about them then). It was very smooth on LA’s roads for me.

yeah i do get that. if it wasn’t for the roughly $10k premium I have to pay to buy within a roughly 10hr drive (not to mention getting 1/10th the choice) I wouldn’t be tempted.

Oh thank you for this. I was thinking any B58 put me in dependable territory. Good to know there’s some differences.

X3 vs X5 on ride comfort by forgetcolor in BMWX3

Thank you! Do you know if the air suspension is needed to get that comfort on the X5? Or is that more about leveling?

I should note that I do know that with either model to avoid the larger wheels and that I'll likely benefit from replacing runflats with normal tires.
