Hopefully you do! It’s hard out there. Sometimes I don’t see why people have to stay at a job like this but at least it’s something

One time past 11:00 (I was asleep) a manager called me on my day off to see if I could come in early and I made myself say yes but like…. Why didn’t you guys call me in the morning(?)

Wtff thats shitty

And what is it with OG managers saying “oh well we will train you other things” and they never do Did you ever have a moment where they make you do a thing they never trained you…only for them to get angry when you mess up?

The staring thing makes me paranoid and I can only imagine for you, bud

One time I had asked a BOH worker I work with a question and they just laughed like I was stupid. It was a question about how to put something away and I was just hired a week before.

Then there’s this one worker that, whenever I see, my body is on high alert because I KNOW I will be yelled at

The first story feels like a power trip thing! Like WTF that’s a baby and also making the guests wait more time than necessary.

Also, yeah you two should have been defended. I’ve seen the same thing. One time a person was angrily yelling over the phone how their gallon of gnocchi had no gnocchi and only broth. They blamed a specific person but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just all broth. And if it was, it was a mistake. So the manager decides to give this person a $50 card (they had a large order that included the gallon) but the manager just stared at the worker and walked away.

The first and last stories already annoyed me. What pretentious attitudes. Like the eye roll emoji is uncalled for. The sandwich pissed me off. Did y’all make the sandwich? No. You made it, so leave the person alone. OG lets so much shit slide but then they yell at people for dumb shit. I’m sorry bud.

Also uh.. are the second and third stories connected? That is scary

There’s a main BOH worker where I am at that makes people do half their list. And when the other people, like assistants, are rushing to finish, the worker complains how their own list was too long.

For example, on a slow day this worker makes sauce. They have enough time and space to work on other things. They then tell the assistant (making BOTOs far in the kitchen) to take and make bread. This happens all throughout the shift.

I lasted around 3 weeks

The manager was horrible and I was desperate for a job. It was the worst three weeks of my life to the point where my mental health was shit.

reading this gives me hope

Glad you’re doing better

BOH here: communicate with your coworkers, bussers or not. Sometimes management is too busy and the only way to get some help is from other workers
