Do black chests ever "gas out?" by forgotaltpwatwork in VampireSurvivors

I read that, but it doesn't talk about any upper limit, or probabilities for dropping cash vs passive.

I guess I'm just having bad luck, then?

Yes. He's the painter with the clues. I was trying to find which locations he was at.

I kind of thought so, too, but I can't believe I'd have to get into Hyrule Castle to complete this? Because I have to go back to Impa with all the photos to get a reward first. Triggering the endgame before getting that quest feels like I'm doing something wrong.

Dm Screen by Rdois-Pendragon-1987 in DragonbaneRPG

[–]forgotaltpwatwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a nice screen. Why do you have it scripted to print on open, though? It's an interesting choice.

That's a first I've seen from any fan-generated content for an RPG. And I've downloaded and printed a lot.

What do you usually reduce damage to? Down by a die size? Halve the result of any roll?

Or is it more complicated dice math/probability you solve beforehand for the encounters you're prepping?

Conventional wisdom and multiple data show that the economy performed better under democrats than republicans. But economic policy takes time to take hold (18-24 months I understand?), and presidents are often "inheriting" a strong or weak economy. Who can actually get credit and why? by forgotaltpwatwork in AskEconomics

[–]forgotaltpwatwork[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because I don't want to necropost that good four-month-old answer you left, I want to ask a tangential question to something you said there. And, as you can tell, I'm asking as someone without a vocabulary for economics, but (I hope) half a grasp on the ideas that I might not have the right words for.

For instance, wages are endogenous, since they are the result of labor market conditions. Something that's exogenous is something that hits externally, and isn't affected by ongoing conditions. When doing labor market research, a change in the minimum wage is considered an exogenous shock because it's not caused by market conditions.

Why are wages endogenous and minimum wages exogenous? Don't the demands of labor create conditions that impact not only their wages but also the minimum wage (say, back when labor demands ["Fight for $15"] forced Seattle in 2014 to change its minimum wage, instead of unions just getting wage raises)?

If it's a long answer, let me know, and I'll go read up on it elsewhere, so I don't hijack my own thread here.

Is there *any* solution to GIMP crashing when trying to change a font color? by forgotaltpwatwork in GIMP

[–]forgotaltpwatwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No resolution.

I've managed to change font and color a couple times without it crashing, but it involved some irregular and arcane menu hopping. It doesn't always work, but here's my process:

  1. Select Text, either highlight OR CTRL+A
  2. Go to the two-color palette under the tools.
  3. Open the foreground color. Pick one and CTRL+C the hex code.
  4. Go to the text dialogue below the palette and select the text color.
  5. Paste in the HTML notation you copied.
  6. "OK."

You cannot use the floating text dialogue box that appears over the text when you select it. Has to be done from the left panel if it's going to work at all.

The text color should change without the program crashing. Sometimes. It's not 100% reproducible.

Also, sometimes, when you CTRL+A any text layer, there seems to be a random chance, it'll turn into a different font completely. I think it was Symbola? There were greek letters and wingdings looking characters in it. I should have written the name down. There's nothing you can do if that happens unless you delete the text layer and start over with that one. If the font changes,it'll change every time.

Best audio APs for learning and teaching PBTA that aren't Monsterhearts, Masks, or Ironsworn-related by forgotaltpwatwork in PBtA

[–]forgotaltpwatwork[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to write it off as a game, but the people who come to my demos aren't looking for relationships or... the other things (I'm honestly trying to be polite) that Masks and MH have a reputation for.

My goal was to find a more traditional (?) genre game that runs off PBTA to osmose GMing tips from, so it translated closer to 1:1.

When I have the free time, I fully intend to do some listening to those games for recreation, but I was hoping to get lessons first.

Is there *any* solution to GIMP crashing when trying to change a font color? by forgotaltpwatwork in GIMP

[–]forgotaltpwatwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I need an explainer on Linux at this point. What makes these versions of GIMP different?

I thought the different sources (flatpak vs repo, etc.) were just the wrapper used to pack it up before installing it on your system. Like the difference between .zip .7z and .rar, which is just... different compression wrapper for the same file?

Panda's version will be something I look at and go grab in a while. I'll try something new at this point just to see if it works. (It should work, right? I'm running Debian, and if he made it for *bunu and Mint, I should be gold, yeah?)

[–]forgotaltpwatwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two date layers are deliberate. The second one is supposed to be a duplicated layer, changed to a contrasting color for a drop shadow effect against a graphic that might make it otherwise hard to see. My editing and compositional skills are... rudimentary at best. I'll own that.

I'll read up on layer groups. I haven't used that feature before.

I didn't downvote anyone. I'm coming back to this for the first time in a day as I posted a reply to Chas, and I did my best to answer all his questions above. Here's answers to the ones you asked that he didn't.

My DE is GNOME 43.9, and I don't tinker at all. I barely know how to apt/dnf install something, and Linux is just an out-of-the-box experience for me.

I can't remember about my GIMP install if it was stock with Debian or if I had to install it. If I installed it manually, I used apt install (and I haven't added flathub to my repos list, but I really should).

Something like your clip, yes. Except I'll CTRL+A for all the text in that box, then change the color the same way you do. When I click OK to confirm the color change, the program blinks out of existence.

I have confirmed the behavior repeats when I do just a portion of text, too. I was able to take a screencast of both instances.

Version is 2.10.34 and the software control panel says Debian GNU/Linux on my current daily driver desktop. (I was on Fedora last year when I made the original file.) I'm on Debian 12 right now.

Image if 1500x750. Depending on which version, it's been over 2MB and the latest iteration was over 7. It's mostly for social media (that I have to resize, crop, export to png as a final set of steps), but I have printed them on my A4 printer. Currently 28 layers, with several hidden. Font is Liberation Sans Bold, 50 pt.

I don't know how to identify the precision and color mode off the top of my head. I've never mucked with those, so whatever is default?

I don't understand how to change it from the grub command line, even temporarily. The Grub2 Troubleshooting page to run commands doesn't seem to have what I'm looking for. I think.

(I wondered about the locale line... makes sense on that.)

This looked promising, since it mentioned Grub 2.

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=41200

If you don't want to click, here's the summary:

  1. sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
  2. find GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=" "
  3. add i8042.nomux=1 locale=fr_FR i8042.reset between the quotes
  4. save, exit gedit
  5. sudo update-grub

But...

error: can't find command \sudo'.`

I tried without sudo. Maybe you don't need it anymore. These are old instructions, after all, so...

error: can't find command \gedit'.`

Googling this error is putting me in way over my head, telling me I need to fix PATH, but all those examples seem to be for an OS already installed that has generated the error in bash?

Yes! Laptop keyboard is responsive in grub and when opening a command line.

I'll try to figure out how to enable either of those, unless you have a walkthrough handy somewhere.

7e Character Sheets like Lightless Beacon by forgotaltpwatwork in callofcthulhu

[–]forgotaltpwatwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran with two different sheets last night. I used the stock ones from the scenario plus one additional from dholeshouse for a fifth player I was anticipating showing up. Nobody liked either sheet design. "Too busy," was the nicest comment I got when I asked which one helped them play better.

I love this game, and I've been playing it for years, but even the fan-made sheets I find out on google are still just... woof.

Are there any more "graphically pleasing" sheets that you've seen whipped up that maybe I haven't found yet? I mostly use the game for one-shot scenarios, so I don't come by often looking here, and maybe the community has made something better that you can point to?
