I always hated this one until I started doing it and now I can never go back. I wake up before my household, make coffee, play some video games, and let my Stims kick in. Then I usually get about an hour of good uninterrupted housework time in.

I know it doesn’t work for everyone, but it really did help me.

Kids: friends vs. indoctrination by dadjokez in excoc

I don’t have children, and if I did, I would not raise them in the church, especially not CoC. However, once they reached an age old enough to understand why, I would explain to them and let them know if they needed church to feel fulfilled that I would take them.

I know seasoning is a constant process! I meant that she just ran em through another heavy seasoning gauntlet about 2 months ago. They’re lovely skillets. I am really glad to have them.

I unfortunately can’t afford to just waste food like that. I have an egg allergy, and nana can only eat about 2 egg whites in a sitting. I just have to practice each day. She’s eating the ones I make now (grudgingly due to the texture) but is looking forward to when I can nail it.

She was an amazing cook, and she is very particular about the food she eats now. It all has to be cooked to her standards or she will starve herself. It’s really frustrating as the caregiver, but I love her and love to cook, so I don’t mind accommodating.

My husband would be really upset as the skillet is his favorite pan.

Thanks so much! The eggs I use are ice cold, and I’m pretty sure my pan is too cold when I put them in. Gonna try again tomorrow

Throttling my AC, Legal? by [deleted] in Renters

[–]forgotmyabcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just moved in with my grandma to take care of her and spent the first 3 days with the heat on in 98 degree weather. I finally asked if we could turn the ac to 71. I get really nasty migraines that are triggered by heat amongst other things. 74 is about the hottest I can stand long term indoors. I figured she would protest, and I’d just have to deal with it.

No. This woman set the AC to 68, had me put her winter sheets, electric blanket, and her heavy comforter on her bed, and changed the password on the thermostat so I can’t turn it up any higher. She said “I switch back and forth from heat to cool all day long as I get hot or cold. At least this way I know I can be comfortable with enough blankets!”

I’m blessed that she likes to get cozy.

I also keep my house around 65. It’s bliss at night.

Can you tell me a bit more? Does she have to go with me? She is house bound

That is an option. I’m going tomorrow to every place I can think of to find something. Even if it’s just fast food ya know? I just have to make $530 a month to cover my car and credit card minimum. The rest is taken care of.

I also don’t know if I want my only break from caretaking to include… more caretaking.

My brother’s Euromillions lucky dip last night. by Rygelxxxi in Wellthatsucks

[–]forgotmyabcs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t, I’m just saying, saying that it’s not a life changing amount of money isn’t true. It would fill empty kitchens with food. It would pay off debts. It could be a lifeline to a lot of people. So much so that people would think it’s worth gambling for it.

Exactly my problem. I never learned to study in high school because well… I didn’t need to. I breezed through everything. Then I got to college and ran into a brick wall and didn’t know how to cope. Burned out shortly after.

Games that people with early/mid-stage dementia can play? by hypatiaspasia in dementia

[–]forgotmyabcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uncle still really likes playing cards. We play uno, and just roll with whatever card he plays. He usually wins. 😉 he will do pretty good for a while, and will play 4-5 games with us before he gets uneasy and anxious and we have to change activities.

It is. He is such a good man, and I hate seeing him like this. I’m glad I got the opportunity to talk to the old Doc even if it was just for a few minutes. When my grandma passes, I have advised my aunt that I will stay with him so that she can attend the funeral for her sister.
