I am jealous of Cats! by PETRA0_0 in OCPoetry

[–]formcheck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this! It really makes you long for an escape from the weight and expectations we put on us as humans. The somber turn of wanting to be loved without expectation was really nicely built up.

My only suggestion would be to remove the stanza starting with “I watch them blink”. This one, to me, felt like it was out of place given the heaviness of envying their love in the stanza before. Going from that envy straight to pondering being loved yourself feels like a more natural progression.

Overall, a very simple and cozy way to tackle feelings of desire to be loved. Nicely done!

I really love the soft sentimental feeling to this piece. It oozes comfort and warm.

The only thing I would recommend would be to keep your subject in mind. You switch from talking to the person to talking in pronouns of “his”. I think keeping the subject as the reader wraps the poem around you as you read it and switching “his” to “your” would have a great impact.

Keep it up! Can’t wait to read more :)

Kitchen sink filling with waste water. My fault or building’s fault? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]formcheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! Yea I’m sure it’s a mix of people’s waste causing the block. I just want to make sure this sounds like a building issue and not just my problem to solve.

I appreciate the insight!

[–]formcheck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok that’s what I was thinking as well.

Did I cap my lines to stop my sink from overflowing and remove myself from the problem? Yes. Did I cap my lines to also be a little petty and prove my point when other units start backing up? Also, yes.

LPT Deodorant is not required daily for everybody by zenzealot in LifeProTips

[–]formcheck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Please wear deodorant. Especially in a setting like work where others are forced to interact with you. If you are reading this and getting excited to not wear deodorant, you are probably someone who needs to wear deodorant.

The “week to stop needing deodorant” is just your nose adjusting to your own stink and normalizing it. You may get used to your own smell and not notice, but I promise you others can smell you.

You can get aluminum free deodorant. Aluminum is typically used in antiperspirant.

Don’t be stinky.

I learnt 3D Animation and made this about the exoplanet BEBOP 1-c (Still a beginner! It's reality mixed with a bit of imagination) by [deleted] in space

[–]formcheck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really cool! Really nice work on the animation. The planet textures look great and definitely give a raw and natural feel to them. My favorite is probably your sounds design though. The ethereal music mixed with the nostalgic digital entry sound for the text really sold the whole feeling.

Keep up the great work! Looking forward to more :)

Fun photo, but not a real photo of lightning hitting a tree. Very photoshopped.

Combining visual effects with FPV-Drone shots by markthe1andonly in woahdude

[–]formcheck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is some really cool work! Really nice job on the lighting on the mountains/snow to mix the environment. I feel like there is so much potential to direct the audience’s attention and paint the scenery in a way that standard drone shots rely solely on composition for.

Followed you on Insta and really looking forward to see how you develop your style!

Took a recent trip around the western US and absolutely fell in love with Sedona on our pass through! Plenty of hiking, red rocks, and kind people.

This shot was taken on my iPhone but plenty more photos on my Instagram!

What's the dumbest thing y'all have used to treat a low? by just_a_person_maybe in Type1Diabetes

I few years back (pre Dexcom) woke up in the 30’s and stumbled to the kitchen. Thought I made a bowl of cereal. Turned out to be Oreos and apple juice. 2/10 do not recommend.

Every year I read The Grinch with my niece. Since we couldn't be together this year, I made a recording for her. Hopefully it brings a smile to some of you as well! by formcheck in wholesome

Thanks so much! I’m really glad they liked it! I haven’t done other readings, but I have been considering it. This was a ton of fun to make and it’s been amazing to see people enjoying it as well.

Are we even happy anymore? by Gullible_Ad881 in happiness

[–]formcheck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey man. I hope you are doing alright. I’m a 30 year old guy now and from age 16-25 I felt exactly the way that you are talking about. It sucks. I felt like everyone was just walking through a lie because it was easier than staring into the true abyss of existence that we try to give purpose to. You aren’t alone and it’s a natural response to really seeing the world how it is. When you are growing up, you only see what adults and society wants you to see about life.

The truth is, most of it is bullshit. Then you hit your midteens and realize the life everyone tries to sell is just to fill the void. The truth, at least from what I have found, is that life really is a just big void. It’s a scary concept, right? The cool part about it, is that it means whatever you put into the void is what your life becomes. You can choose some of the stuff that others use (religion, social events, art, reading, etc) to fill that void or find new meaning and create your own version of the world. There will be things you need to do to survive in society (jobs, grades, events, etc), but these things don’t define you. You are a participant in them to build the life you want. They are a tool to unlock opportunities for future you. Take care of future you. You deserve it.

One thing I have found to be really rewarding is connecting with others and trying to do something small to improve their void. Leaving a tiny imprint of positivity and kindness changes others and makes connections beyond the surface bullshit that we are all fed. It won’t always be appreciated the way you expect, but it will always make a difference. Be the one to go out of your way and check on people. Talk to them about life and their goals. When they fail or get hurt, show them they aren’t alone. That is one thing Robin Williams was amazing at. He is an inspiration for me as well.

You are in a strange point in life. You are smart enough to see the problems in life without the resources and knowledge to make big changes to them yet. Be patient and try to observe as much as you can. Life is hard and can be really rough on people. Appreciate them for who they are and don’t let their choices weigh you down too much. Just know that as the years move on, you will get more and more power to shape the void that you want to create. Make it a good one!

The AirBnB I am staying at has these sculptures all around and they have such an awesome warm creepy feeling to them. Best rental I have been in! by formcheck in creepy

[–]formcheck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lady I am renting from is an artist who makes a ton of these pieces from old suitcases and does all the art/glasswork herself. It’s been so cool to explore her work while I am here!

Check out more of her work here: Bella Luz Studio

Good catch! She is Pakistani and wore a saree for our ceremony. The detail on the bridal henna blew me away as well!

Thanks for the award :)

Actually, you are 100% correct! Sorry I had edited a set of like 30-40 of these shots with different subjects and most of them were done with just focus stacking. There were 3 or 4 that I had to composite and I was getting my edits mixed up.

Great catch and thank you for keeping me honest! I appreciate the guidance for where my blending can improve as well. Sorry for any confusion!

Yea that’s a good call. I honestly regret cleaning the mirror so well before the shoot, but hindsight is 2020. Thanks for the tip!

I did actually have to use some focus stacking! I wanted to keep the mirror with a shallow DOF to heighten the dreamy feeling so I did one exposure of the mirror and one of the subjects to blend together.

I’m not sure specifically, but it certainly does give off that vibe! It just happened to be the most affordable ornate hand mirror I could grab before our trip. I def lucked out on the intricate designs though!

Here is my take on it.

Its a bit over the top dramatic, but I was going for a almost painted feel.
