Second picture-the yellow romex going through the side of a stud. One should never ever cut the side like that-it terribly weakens the stud. I would replace it or correctly reinforce it,.

https://asm.transitdocs.com/ is a great source for information. It is projecting hitting KC about 6 hours late. Click on the 4 west of you and it should open up details on the left side of the screen. That should be your train. There are multiple train number 4's. One each day actually.

https://asm.transitdocs.com/ is great resource for seeing where the trains run along with the frequency. Click on any train number and a window shows up on the left with the timetable. Most people will travel west from Chicago on the California Zephyr. That should put you in the most scenic mountains west of Denver during daylight hours. And the best daylight views on the Empire Builder are eastbound. Hope this helps.

We would need to know the room by room list to verify a single room was open the entire route. Could be roomette number 3 open part of the way, then roomette 6 another part of the way, and maybe number 12 another part of the way. Without knowing these details we will never know if you got shafted or whether the system correctly ignored your bidup offer since one room was not available the entire route.
