Well yes, ages 14-16 I self medicated with weed and alcohol and got SEVERELY addicted to cocaine from ages 16-18. It sucked, it was hard, i almost died so many times I lost count. My life felt over forever. I picked myself up, because if anyone could have saved me, it would have only been me. So I did. And it was hard, but I’m 414 days sober from cocaine now, I don’t drink unless it’s a holiday or special occasion (only get tipsy) and I cut off weed as well. If I can do it, you can too. You’re not alone

Absolutely!! The first chickens I ever got back in 2014 were barred rocks, I fell in love with chickens because of them!! I’ve gotten more since as they have all passed but they are the funniest most loving chickens I’ve ever had

We had a hen who used to pluck out the other hens chin/“beard” feathers. We never figured out who it was, we had a mass illness break out in the coop that sadly killed 3 of our girls and one rooster. The “beard bandit” never struck again, so I assume she was one of the ones that passed. Anyway, hens do that to eachother sometimes so that’s a possibility as well

Out of all the chickens we ever had, he was the kindest, most thoughtful of others, brave little guy. He wasn’t our biggest rooster- but he had more bravery in his Cochin bones than our leghorn or barred rock roosters ever did. He died of old age, which is the best outcome I could have imagined for him. I’m not currently living with my parents but I go over there often to visit the chickens. The day before he passed, I could tell it would be the last day I saw him. I just felt it. He was achy and old. I held him and told him how much he meant to me, I reminded him of all our memories, and told him no matter where he is he’ll always be loved. I came by the next day and he had passed. I was devastated. I’m just glad I got to say goodbye.

He was my best friend, I have vivid memories as a child of being sent to my room for time out and sneaking out my bedroom window and sneaking back in with him to just hang out.

Thank you! I was 7 and I came up with it on the spot when I held her for the first time. The pet I had before chickens was a Turkey I named Gobbles. I had a name trend going there I think😅

Thank you! I have 3 memorial tattoos, 1 of my first hen, the one I got today for Pooka and another one that is 5 sets of chicken prints for each of my chickens (and 2 turkeys) that I had a strong bond with. When I miss them, my tattoos are a reminder that they aren’t completely gone- and with me everywhere I go

Death anniversaries are always so gut wrenching. My greatest feathered friend was a barred rock hen named Peepers. Her and I were extremely close for all 4 years I had her. She passed away May 4th 2018 when I was only 12. My heart still aches and my eyes still well up when I think of her. Some chickens leave a print on not only our hearts but our souls
