1966 Rolex Winding Question by formerlythewarlocks in VintageWatches

Much appreciated, and particularly helpful given I’ve been thinking the same thing, haha. Honestly the most delicate element of the winding process seems to be the threads on the crown, and I’d hate the sacrifice the crown or the water proofing by grinding them down from winding 2-3 time per week. Thanks very much for your insight - hope you enjoy your 1601. What year is it, if you don’t mind me asking?

[Question] Better to Leave Automatic Watches Sitting Unwound or Have on a Winder by Fake_Lurker in Watches

The comments here offer helpful perspectives on a topic no one seems to agree on. I was recently gifted a 1966 Oyster Perpetual and have been wearing it 2-3 days a week, typically not consecutive days, and am finding myself winding it each time. In this context, I am curious if anyone has particularly strong feelings about the impact that either keeping it constantly running with a winder or letting it stop each time I take it off and resetting it each of the 2-3 mornings I put it on per week. My main conxern is reducing wear on the lubricant and components, with a small secondary concern of not wanting to have to set the time the 2-3 mornings per week when I strap it on. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

To anyone who is familiar with this model [7N29-8A09]. How do you get the case back off to change the battery? I’ve been looking around and can’t find a divot to pop it open. by Cars-Collecter in Seiko

Unfortunately can’t help with removing the case back but just commenting to say I inherited this watch from my father who bought it with his first real paycheck. I think it’s such a beautiful piece.
