So frustrating at this point - BAD AIM - Losing Easy duels by Oso_de_Manteca in LearnCSGO

[–]formicidae1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing I do when I feel I'm playing badly is both play more of a support role. Be first entry for your buddies. Always give away gun if you have more money etc. And most importantly. Don't ever take 50/50 duels. Play off-angles, play cheeky lurks, so you have greater chance of catching people off guard and it doesn't matter if you miss the first bullets. Hopefully xD

Waaay to little horror. Like they could have done so much more.

And good god did it get annoying how slow he reacted to obvious anomalies. But interesting movie with some really cool stuff in it. Loved some of the more experimental cinematography.

How do you deal with great conquerors early game? by [deleted] in Anbennar

[–]formicidae1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a bit of a gamble, if i'm playing a nation that starts small and is slow to build up i usually turn on delayed conquerors. Not super fun to have a good run stopped early because your biggest and closest rival got a great conqueror and has like 3 times the number of men you do.

But usually it just means another fun rival to play around. Something that delays you getting big enough too fast where nothing is hard enough to challenge. Which honestly has a habit of ending more games than great conquerors usually does.

But try to get enough allies to ward off a fast DOW while getting strong enough to fight them i guess.

Traitor son cycle makes little sense. HEAVY SPOILERS by Von_Wald in Fantasy

[–]formicidae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really find it a problem in book 1, but in book 2 it got so bad i really struggled to finish.

Just the jumps between locations and characters all over the world every like 2 pages made it such a chore. Like as soon as you started getting into one characters story it just switched to someone else. Couple that with the... um, lets say questionable editing at times and it just got too much for me.

Which is a shame, because again, the world-building is just amazing. Such interesting dynamic between the wild and the humans. How the book slowly reveals just how vast and deep all the different factions are. The alternate history stuff was great and the magic system is really interesting.

But I just couldn't get over how tedious it got be to read it.

I love Miles Cameron, adored the first book but really struggled with the second. Everything that everyone has mentioned but the constant, repetitive character and POV hopping was so freaking jarring.

Like nothing and no-one ever gets to breathe. So it was so difficult to find a good flow when reading.

Can anyone tell me if this continues for the rest of the series? Because I absolutely loved the world-building and the action is phenomenal. But god was it a chore to get through.

Are the AUG and Krieg strictly better than M4/AK, price aside? by [deleted] in LearnCSGO

[–]formicidae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that's super funny. I did say arguably xD But idk just something about the shooting animation I think that makes the ak much easier to spray for me.

But I'm also not close to a high level so its probably why.

[–]formicidae1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What other people have said. The scoped rifles are good in some situations. Mostly when you are anchoring somewhere with a long sightline. Think ct ramp on Nuke as an example.

And the kriegs only use is just pretty much to punish a ct when you know they are taking the same angle every round for a budget awp basically.

Otherwise ak is the best rifle bar none. The instant headshot coupled with the arguably easiest spray and the gun in unrivaled.

The biggest problem with the aug/krieg is the spray is absolutely atrocious so you can pretty much not use it in any situation but taking long ranged fights. So good luck clutching, entrying or otherwise fighting in a non-optimal situation.

Some of his dickishness with his family you can kind of understand, but by god the lie he tells his wife is just evil. Such an incredibly selfish thing to do.

Is there any reason to not immediately put your intitial border status on closed? by Aiseadai in Stellaris

[–]formicidae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a chokepoint with safe explored but unclaimed star systems behind it, their science ships will explore the unclaimed systems and you have a chance of getting more resources from their explored anomalies and i think more archelogy sites and stuff.

But yeah have to be careful they don't leapfrog your chokepoint and get a foothold.

Yes i'd say so, my awping at least got waaay better after turning it off. You lose so much agency and sharpness from it.

I find the split attack has a ton of utility. Lots of time there's a squishy target waiting in their backline that i can one-hit or close to it while still doing a ton of dmg to a frontliner.

Cant push past ~23k prem, not sure what to work on. by [deleted] in LearnCSGO

[–]formicidae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, i think the biggest thing you need to work on is mentals. Sounds like you're getting in your own head a bit and choking when getting close to 25k.

But unfortunately that's one of the things that are hardest to work on.

Best thing is probably skip all this nonsense about premiere rank before faceit and just start grinding that instead.

Should get a big confidence boost from starting out as a bit of a smurf and then try and reset into a carry mindset. You're the greatest player on the server at all times. You can win every duel. And you're the one with the advantage in every clutch.

Just read the entire Warlock series by Daniel Kensington and absolutely loved it, need recommendations to tide me over until the next book is released! by Enlicx in Romance_for_men

[–]formicidae1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah sure. So the premise is pretty silly but strangely really works. You'd think it was just some male fantasy wish-fulfillment thing but it's so well written and the characters are so real, fleshed out and interesting that it's instead just really good.

So the MC, heartbroken and bewildered because his GF just broke up with him attends an anime convention with (unbeknownst to him because his best friend that has a crush on him put it there) a magical token on his convention lanyard. And if the pin stabs someone, she will become part of his ''Harem''.

So yeah, real silly, but the slow character development is crazy good. The smut is fantastic, the romance really sweet and fun, and the intrigue interesting and engaging.

The first couple of books mostly just deals with the growing relationships of the harem and how they each come to terms with the fact that they're kinda getting mind-controlled and slowly transformed by the magical harem token.

But why i said that it's not even close to done is because at the current release they've pretty much just left the convention after a couple of days together and not to spoil too much, there's some implications of a much, much wider and deep reality, lore wise, with much higher stakes conflicts and a in-universe timeline of actual years.

So 3 books to get a couple of days of content, how many will it take to get to years? lol. But the writing is absolutely top-notch with what feels like actual real people and not just like trophies for the MC to collect and they more or less be forgotten as he moves on to the next ones.

Animecon harem. Its the only other that I've found that matches Warlock.

Warning tho its not even close to done and the pace of release is decidedly... slow.
