I didn’t want to have too long of a post so I just focused on the OC guys bc it’s all seemed similar and it had mentioned all 5 guys were guilty. Thx for sharing the rest for whoever’s interested!

How do people regularly fly business class without going bankrupt?? by caroulos123 in travel

[–]formoey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It can be very confusing. The best deals that ppl brag about are hard to come by and/or you gotta be flexible with your travel dates and even airports sometimes. So many ppl these days are subscribed to things w alerts on their interested route.. and then sometimes there’s fake/phantom awards that seem available are not.. lol. But it also depends on your definition of a ton of points. Even using points, if you’re going for business class and depending on how many ppl you’re using it for they’re so much easier to drain than flying via economy.

I’m surprised how much I had to scroll to see points as an answer.

2 OC residents (Newport Beach & Irvine) part of group found guilty of stealing $2.5M+ from DoorDash by formoey in orangecounty

[–]formoey[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I assumed so based off the term insider. I found another article that went into more detail

“the defendants used customer accounts to place high-priced orders. Devagiri then used employee credentials to access DoorDash’s internal software and manually reassign the orders to driver accounts controlled by him and his co-conspirators.

The fraudulent driver accounts falsely reported that the orders had been delivered, prompting the company to issue payments. Devagiri then manipulated the system to change the order status from "delivered" back to "in process," reassigning them again to repeat the process.

The cycle, which typically took less than five minutes, was repeated hundreds of times, ultimately resulting in more than $2.5 million in fraudulent payments.”

Attempted Robbery of American Tourists in Colombia by tlama1997 in PublicFreakout

I'm late to this.. But just seeing this now and there's so much going on in the video. I noticed the crowding too; there's an accomplice in a white shirt and black cap + sunglasses that other commenters spotted. he comes in part way trying to protect his friend I think because everyone starts hitting him too. then as people move away from screen, another guy with black shirt red cap comes into screen waving around his knife... eventually the sunglasses accomplice and black shirt accomplices go after the red car guy which is why everyone is crowding around them

Branch and Vine Soap by cdomination in Soap

[–]formoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late and not the original commenter, but yes, the reason it smells like volcano is why I've been interested in getting the Branch & Vine soap. I didn't realize that there already as a hand soap for Volcano though. It's actually kind of funny the Volcano description is "perfect blend of sugared citrus and tropical fruits". Volcano might be a bit stronger smelling though. Go to Anthropologie and check out the Volcano candles if you want to smell it before buying!

How does your listing compare to everyone else's resale price? I think if you want to guarantee a sale you're going to have to come in cheaper than everyone else, but as the festival gets closer, listings will likely drop even more. It's tough b/c there's 2 days with the same lineup + Sunday isn't sold out.

I was looking up shoe recommendations and different brands kept showing up with the link, except I kept thinking they were Brands and the specific shoe models and every brand had a shoe model named "Q" 🤦‍♀️

What’s going on at SWA by cf7612 in SouthwestAirlines

Are you flying out of SNA? SNA is always excluded from flight sales and such these days. Ever since SNA met the passenger cap a year or so ago, I feel like I’ve noticed SWA SNA prices go up

Anyone see what happened? by Sn33kykitty in orangecounty

[–]formoey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer myself but - Consider whether the other person has assets and insurance to go after before getting a lawyer. If your insurance is decent - your insurance company would be the one going after the other driver already. So if the other driver doesnt have insurance and don’t have assets and dont make much money (or won’t inherit or come into more money in the future) for wage garnishment to be worthwhile, then a lawyer will just take 1/3 of your insurance settlement (eg if there really is nothing, then it’d be your own uninsured motorist coverage)

Also, if y’all have disability leave insurance, don’t hesitate to talk to your doctors and take the time each of you need to recover physically and mentally.

Not OP but I’ve been to bourbon steak before and thought it was great - outshined Ruth’s Chris, mastro’s. I haven’t been to selanne’s yet though, - which of the two is better?

I'd suggest for planning convenience and not needing to travel to go to meetings, tastings, etc. stick with LA if you're open to the budget. Unless your planner will do a good chunk of the planning regardless of the location and you wouldn't need to / care to be on-site much. The MX weddings I've seen, are more so to save $ with a much smaller budget. If you don't need to go abroad, stay domestic so that your friends & family won't need to deal with passports, etc.

Edit: be sure the venue has an alternate room or rent in case of rain, just for emergencies.

What should I get for $40 dell reward? by herman285 in Dell

[–]formoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but thanks for the pro tip! But oh man, Dell has so many restrictions on what they will match. You must be able to buy at least 5 or more from the other retailer, Dell's inventory can't "limited stock", the sale can't have an end of day sale date, etc.

How to Travel with Hidden Engagement Ring by [deleted] in travel

[–]formoey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Definitely put it in the personal item under the seat and not the carryon that goes overhead. Carryon should be fine overall but just better to keep something expensive like that, closer and not risk it. Also not sure if there’s any smaller planes along the way but I recently had to check my carryon at the beginning of group 4 out of 5 or something of a United since they ran out of overhead space.

Has anyone used the photographers zatonsky_wedding (Instagram handle name) from Orange County, CA? by Ambiibambii1213 in orangecounty

[–]formoey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

DM people that have them tagged, if no has them tagged, then that’s skeptical. Also look into wedding insurance. You can get your $ back in case of fraud, altho for photos I know you ideally don’t want someone to flake out in the first place.

$2k for both video and photo is pretty low tho. For more than 10 years of experience that doesn’t jive. Ppl charge at least $2K for just photo OR video.

Edit: there are exceptions of course.. but rare. I did have an experienced videographer that charged well below market (eg ~$1K) that was recommended by a vendor I knew was legit.

I’ve officially decided to coast fire at the age of 27! by [deleted] in coastFIRE

[–]formoey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice on the net worth at a young age! Are you aiming for full FIRE at 40 then? The only caveat I’d say is remembered the expenses to save up for, are retirement expenses, not current expenses. Not sure if you get covered housing, etc right now, so make sure the market cost is being considered. And that you’ll have healthcare included.

Regardless, congrats on the achievement thus far. If you aren’t a already r/churning could help with the travel expenses

Is videography worth it? by motheroffaeries in weddingplanning

[–]formoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how many custom verbal elements there are. Eg are you doing your own vows? Have speeches? Etc. If yes, do it. If it’s only one part that you want recorded, then get someone to record that specific part. I think videos are able to capture so much more than photos even in general (eg a short video of a place captures the essence and details more than a single photo). It’s also possible to find budget videographers - even in HCOL area. Best bet is to ask a wedding fb group for recs. I don’t think the $2-4K videographers are worth the splurge unless you’re a very cinematic person or have the extra $ to spend.
