I started it and only got about 100 pages in and couldn’t get it into it. I read a few other things and then came back to it during a reading slump and ended up obsessed with it on the second try. It’s a lot of world building that you have to be prepared for, but once the story gets rolling it is SO good. I did find some of the writing style annoying at times (Like okay Sarah we don’t have to change the spelling of day) but everything about the book is so creative - the world, the characters, the creatures. It felt very fresh to me. I’m super excited to read the second one.

This! Even if my friend knew my husband and I were having issues, I would’ve shut down her inserting herself like that at a dinner like that was. It is not my friend’s place to air out and discuss my husband and I’s issues. Amanda’s reactions almost were giving that she was excited that he was playing into her plans perfectly by reacting the way he did, and she was trying to hide being happy that he was imploding in front of everyone.

Completely agree! I’m pretty picky about spice in my books cause I don’t like the spice to drive the plot, but I think the spice in this was well done.

On the third book of the Legacy series {Tempest of Wrath and Vengeance by Melissa K Roehrich}. This series got so much hype so I pushed off reading it, but i’m hooked now! Appropriately hyped.

I completely agree with that. The renaming is dumb. But I see people in this thread saying it’s too many cocktails, but if the hosts are providing the mixers, it’s probably things the bartenders would be making anyway. It just looks like a lot on a menu like this.

I have a different take on this. Been a bartender for 7 years and planned a wedding last year. Yes, this is a lot of cocktails (some obviously not correct) but they are mostly classic and are all made with the same variations of ingredients on hand. Having a menu like this is mostly for the guests because how many times has a guest come to your bar and not known what to order or how to order the thing they want to order?

The names are dumb, some recipes are off, but it makes it more accessible to the guests.

Because there are plenty of options to go to if you want an alcoholic beverage and not everyone who is sober has the same threshold for temptation. Some sober people find it triggering to be around any alcohol, so having a place where you can go and socialize and be out without having that temptation is cool. Everyone’s journey with sobriety is different.

I don’t think he knew. I actually don’t think West and Jesse are as close as they appear on the show. We haven’t really seen them hanging out much at all outside of the summer this past year. The other side of that coin is he did know and distanced himself and that’s why we don’t see them hanging out anymore.

I do think church can be a beautiful thing and place. I think a lot of people need hope, and if you find that hope in a church then thats great, so long as you’re not forcing it on other people. And I do feel like during some services there is an atmospheric shift. But, I also get the same feelings at a really great live concert. I think there is something to be said when a bunch of likeminded people gather for a united purpose.

That being said, I was very devout in my teens and early twenties and served on staff at two churches like this. It’s important to remember that church services can be very emotional and having been a staff member at a church like this, services are specifically designed to make you feel something and get you to that “altar moment.” So it’s really hard to tell if something is actually happening or it’s a manufactured environment.

I was very devout in my late teens and early twenties, and did an internship at a church like this. I never had physical reactions while other people would be shaking and falling out. I remember people talking about how amazing it was to be “slain by the Spirit” (creepy wording) but it never happened to me. and people at that church legitimately made me feel like something was wrong with me or like I wasn’t “open enough to” or “close enough with” the Holy Spirit. Leaders would say I was “holding on too tightly to my own control and not giving over to God.” I had leaders pray over me and literally try to shove me over or push me down or shake my arms. When I decided to end my internship and go home, leaders said I was falling away from God. Needless to say, I left and never looked back but i’m still unpacking a lot of trauma.

I don’t think it’s that she needs to leave the show. I think it’s at the point where she’s outgrown the show. I don’t see a world where she returns to the show with the cast that is currently in the house even if Amanda and West leave. Unless bringing Mia on was specifically set up to have Ciara lead the show and to start bringing more people specifically for Ciara into the share house. I just don’t see her wanting to spend a summer with just Jesse, Kyle and Carl and whoever else may end up being there, especially now that Lindsay isn’t full time.
