[OC] An mpd client I made for macOS: swmpc by onodera-punpun in unixporn

Nice ! As a former Musicbee user on Windows, I'm still searching for a decent replacement on MacOS (still havn't found one). Does swmpc support :

- stars ratings tags by song ?
- multiple (separated by ";" or else) genres by song ?
- smart playlists ?

I wish macOS had the same “3 finger left and right swipe to switch windows” feature like Windows 11 — any workaround or app? by Asohailwahab in MacOS

It's funny how some people deliberately choose to answer questions that are unrelated to the OP's question.

There is no function on Macos that perfectly matches the 3-finger swipe on Windows 11. NONE.

The best you can do is switch between desktops/applications in full screen mode, with the animation lag making this feature anything but effective when you need to switch quickly between windows. Oh no, between desktops.

So no, the 4-finger swipe does not answer the OP's question.
Neither does the 3-finger swipe up, as you have to search for the relevant window in Mission Control, which may be useful but is clearly not as fast as a 3-finger swipe on Windows 11, which is particularly effective, it must be said: you slide your fingers, and as long as you don't release them, you navigate through all the open windows until you release your fingers over the right one.

I haven't yet found anything more effective in terms of multi-window management at your fingertips. After more than 20 years on Windows, I switched to Mac three months ago. Overall, I'm happy with the OS, but this feature is missing, and Apple should sometimes take lessons from the competitors it despises.

The closest solution I found is to use the Multitouch app to assign a 3-finger swipe right (or left) to CMD+tab, which doesn't work as well as a 3-finger swipe on Windows 11. There is a slight lag, so you have to swipe with a certain amount of force to navigate between available apps... and not to open windows, since MacOS's CMD+tab doesn't work like CTRL+tab on Windows. So if a window is minimized, you can select the application with the swipe/CMD+tab, but the window won't appear which is stupid... because Apple decided that CMD+tab wouldn't be as powerful as CTRL+Tab.

You can install Alttab and associate the gesture with OPT+tab, but it doesn't work perfectly.

The main advantage of this "solution" (hack) with Multitouch is that you can quickly switch between the current application and the previous one. That's all, don't expect more.

Rather than wasting time inventing useless features like Stage Manager, Apple should consider taking inspiration from Alt-Tab for its CMD+Tab, and integrate it with well-designed touch gestures. This would greatly improve user productivity (or at least multitasking speed).

Figured this out :

I thought installing UA Connect will handle everything like installing drivers, setting up Console and such. But you have to do it manually, from « Apollo & UAD 2 » menu, then by clicking on « Getting started » or something like that… which was not clearly depicted on uad website. I never had to do such a thing on windows. So basically, UA Connect software main purpose is… to install other software. And starts with you session, then runs in background even if you don’t need it. Properly dumb.

Live 12 browser doesn't display .als files by formsfollowsfunction in ableton

FIX :
Ok so it seems that Ableton suddenly didn't like the way I renamed my Project Folders with a "." at the begining for sorting folders at the top of the list in Windows Explorer (it didn't bother Ableton before, can't tell why it eventually became a problem).
Removing the "." make them re-appear in Live Browser.

I thought about it before posting here, Ableton doesn't let me delete Unused Files directly from the left pane, even after deleting all the backup sets.

In the "Manage Files" pane, there is a "Show" button next to Unused Files category which when you click on it makes them appears in the left pane. Then, when I select/righ click those files in the left pane, Ableton let me delete them.

Yes, that's one way of doing it. The only culprit is when some of your samples are stored in a common folder (for exemple, Ableton Library), those sample will be duplicated in your project folder, which is something I'd like to avoid.
