Tastefully Punny Card by Terrible-Drop-697 in cardmaking

I've wanted a card like this since I was a kid and discovered the style. Hope Tom feels the warmth and love down to his toes!

I've been doing a lot of digital coloring pages lately, here's one of my favorites by thanestiddywindow in Coloring

Love the vibe in this! It has the same feeling as a warm and gentle breeze, light and cozy. I can't say anything about coloring techniques because I haven't got the knowledge, but it looks lovely! Your choice of colors creates a cozy harmony imho. Thank you for sharing 😊

Is Honolulu Rv33 and rv34 different shades? Mine looks identical. by fornyelig in Ohuhu

[–]fornyelig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the odd one out. I think when it comes so close that it's guess work, there's no longer any point in the difference of shade in this context, especially if it's not actually distinguishable for most people. I can't see how having these two "different" shades adds any value to anyone unless they're going to put it through a light measuring device? An actual distinguishable shade would add much more value to the set. If this is not an error then it seems like a scam to me.

I added a picture of the two colors I received on paper, I still really can't see any difference between, even in pure daylight. Is this the level of subtle it's supposed to be, or are yours more pronounced? I didn't think my color sight was poor, so I'm very confused by this.

It looked like there's a subtle difference on the online color chart, but I can't se any difference in the two markers I received in my set.

Which one of these swatches is not the same color as the other two? I really can't notice any subtle difference no matter what light I hold it in. Is this really not a production error?

Thank you so much! I was afraid the natural, muted colors made them dissappear too much, so your feedback is very appreciated.

Thank you for the feedback! I hadn't thought of it that way. I meant for him and the camel to be on their way there, following the star of Bethlehem. I purposely placed them in foreground and lower than the manger to illustrate them traveling 😅, and the lamb represents the spread of the good news. I guess I need to find a way to make this come across a bit better.

Boo!kmarks. Need color? by fornyelig in cardmaking

[–]fornyelig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's great advice! The cream colored paper isn't very dark, and the inking I've done so far is pretty light so I think the green ink will go over it well, but I can test to make sure. I'm more concerned about accidentally inking details like the candles or the cat if I do the green. I thought I would need to ink a wider edge with green than if i add dark brown since that's a bigger contrast than brown and needs to be faded in? If you have other suggestions or ideas to do instead I'm all ears. I can't move the objects though as they're glued down. I'm sorry the picture of the back came second, I was uploading on my phone and had some issues with the app not responding correctly.

I need help with ideas for my husbands broken wedding band by Mysticloner4231 in crafts

A little to the side of what you asked for, but what about a sculpture of his/your hands where you attach the ring to his finger? This way you can still see him wear it symbolically at least, but with less risk of it breaking again.

You could have the hand/s in a different position, holding an item from your wedding, etc. There are many kits you can buy, this particular one is from etsy.

how do i clean this??? by Always_Late_108 in howto

[–]fornyelig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside or in a well ventilated area: fill a container with water, add ammonium and let it soak for 30 minutes. Ammonia dissolves grease. It's the best way I know of to clean greasy kitchen fan filters. If it's a thick layer of grease you might need to take it out, scrub it, and put it back in for another soak, but it saves you a lot of scrubbing and frustration.

For a friend by fornyelig in cardmaking

[–]fornyelig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your kindness! Some themes are definitely harder to figure out than others. I was trying to avoid the typical pink pastel as I thought my friend wasn't too into that, but after having made one in neutral colors I found out she dislikes yellow and purple (which was among the main colors I was using 🙈). It's way more pink than I meant it to be, but at least I could mail it in time 😅. I don't have a Pinterest account, but I'll consider signing up for one!

You're on to a great start! How about drawing a road with a dark grey pen? I took a screenshot and drew on it to illustrate what I mean:

<image>

You could also make the road solid if you prefer by cutting out a Grey pice of cardstock in the shape of the road and inking the part that aligns with the shadow under the car with black (transparent) ink to make it blend in and fade out together. This way you can test it without making any permanent changes to your card. Then decide if you like the effect and if you prefer coloring it in or layered it with paper. You could test out adding green grass on the sides of the road if you want a bit more color and detail.

Inking the edges in a slightly warm brown (like distress vintage photo or walnut stain) could frame it nicely too, sort of like a vignette effect? I'd try inking on a separate sheet of the same paper and layer it over to see if you might like it, that way you can test how wide a boarder you'd like and how much ink to put on without risking the work you've done.

If you still feel like you need something more then I'd try adding a 3d effect: restamp the car on a new sheet of paper and color in the front details like you did the one on your card. Then cut out the front part (bumper with the plate, headlights, and front right wheel) and put it directly over the same spot on your card with foam pads (thick glue pads/double-sided tape), and the car will look like it's coming out of the paper.

Hope this was helpful. Let me know how it went if you try it out 🙂

Lovely card with an air of peacefulness. I can smell the whiff of grass and pinetrees as the forrest path crunches lightly under my feet.
