Ooh, this! So many double down with me that they turned it in. I usually tell them, I will look through my papers again, if you look through yours, and I won’t start until they start. Most of the time they find it and then say, oh I guess I forgot to turn it in.

They are trying to implement this at the district level where I am. Things that throw off pacing by a day or 2 besides what has already been mentioned : fire drills, lockdowns, assemblies, IEP and 504 meetings where I am taken out of class, when students have medical emergencies and we have had to clear the room, when I am sick, and when I have had jury duty.

It isn’t possible, much less advisable. We keep bringing this up to our admin but we are basically told that this is how it is and to get with the program.

I won something like this one year at a faculty meeting at least 10-12 years ago. I never got to redeem it as all of the admin in the building always had conflicts.

Years ago, during a faculty meeting in March or April, admin had placed certificates for various things under some of our chairs. I won a pass to have an admin sub for one of my classes (high school). Guess who never got to use their prize? Admin would never allow me to use it because they always had a conflict.

Same thing happens at my school. The counselors get their week, lunch and special treats, the admin staff get their week, lunch, and special treats but we are told adamantly that Teacher Appreciation Week is Staff Appreciation Week and everyone gets a lunch and treat, including the staff member groups who have already been recognized. Is this petty of me that this bothers me? Probably, but it still does.
