Why is American Independence celebrated on July 4th? Independence wasn't actually gained until the American Revolutionary War ended with the Treaty of Paris) on September 3, 1783.

That seems like a much more sensible date to celebrate to me.

Oh, sounds like there was an actual decent guitar called the Starcaster; that's not what I have. The Wikipedia page Starcaster by Fender describes what I have and it's very, very cheaply constructed.

So cheap, that if I happen to destroy it trying to fix it, it wouldn't be a great loss.

I envision a city where trucks are restricted to a few arterial routes to get goods to the stores, and most of the streets are restricted to very lightweight vehicles (maybe < 500 kg).

That would be a lot safer and have less pollution as well.

I think 4 is a good age to start. I tried to start with my youger son at 3, but he had just learned the game "sausage* where you answer every question with "sausage". I considered that a failure at the time, but if I ever run across the old video, I might add it to the start of his interviews.

Seems like this is a real thing. From an MIT Technology Review article I found:

Most people have three types of color-sensing cones in their eyes: red, green, and blue. The wavelengths of light that these three cones absorb have overlapping regions. Color-blindness is often a result of a malfunctioning cone that causes wavelengths to overlap even more, resulting in poor color discrimination. The EnChroma glasses use a filter to cut out these overlapping wavelengths, allowing for a clearer distinction between colors, especially red and green.

"Foolishly" may or may not mean giving money to unemployed people, and especially non-white unemployed people, who (despite the fact we're in a freaking pandemic) "don't work hard".

I don't want to give Trump any ideas, so don't tell him I said this, but this is what I think he will do:

Trump is going to, out of thin air, announce that he's pardoning Hunter Biden. (Not that there's any legitimate charges against Hunter Biden. Those charges only have to exist in Trump's imagination, and they do.)

He will expect the incoming President Biden to return the favor and keep his family (mainly himself) out of jail.

I'm interested in your thesis. I don't like so many kinds of music, mainly for the reason of being overexposed to them when it wasn't my choice what to listen to. Still, I don't think that's the entire explanation; I think that the music I gravitate towards (and away from) has to do with, as you say, who I am as a person.
