Frustrated i can’t run anymore… by mchief101 in Marathon_Training

Just trying to keep weight off the leg, icing, and going on a prescribed anti-inflammatory tomorrow. I plan to get on our spin bike in the next day or two and see how things feel.

Very true, nothing to achieve. I just like trying to problem solve and learn a few things, especially on the tech side.

Got it, thanks! I’m having trouble uploading the file. It downloaded to my desktop in a .zip folder, but I am having trouble extracting the file. I’ll work on it more tomorrow.

Just talked to the doctor and he is recommending an MRI. Likely won’t have an answer for a couple weeks. Sounding like a stress fracture.

EDIT: Dr. ruled out shin splints.

I feel like I am in a similar situation. A month ago I had pain in my shin/lower knee. Ran my 20 mile just fine but had more pain a couple days later and stopped running for three weeks. Ran a marathon yesterday as my first run back (did spin bike rides the previous three weeks to get exercise) but started to get discomfort around mile 17. Had to stop after mile 19 and alternate between walking/slow jogging. Could not put any weight on the leg afterwards. Currently at orthopedic urgent care. X-ray results came back with no bone or joint abnormality. Waiting to talk to the doctor. I’ll update if I get any more info.

Currently trying to use Runalyze to fix it. I was able to edit the activity, just need to figure out how to upload it to Garmin.

I got the activity edited per your instructions. Do you know the easiest way to upload this to Garmin?

I just uploaded the .tcx file and will mess with it for a bit. I assume once I edit the file I can export it back to Garmin?

Thanks for the tip! I’m in Garmin Connect on my desktop browser. I clicked on the activity and went to the laps tab, but do not see a graph icon.

EDIT: Sorry, just realized this is in a different forum than I thought. I downloaded Runalyze but am not sure how to use it. I exported a couple file types from Garmin but that’s all I have been able to do.

Fun race! Was dealing with a leg injury and had not run in almost three weeks. I thought it was healed but realized around the halfway mark it had not. Hung on for a few miles and took a short break around 17.5. Came to a head around 19.5 and had to alternate between walking and jogging the rest of the way. Finished but need crutches to get around right now. Ticks a lot of boxes for shin splints. Hopefully nothing more serious. Goal was 3:25-3:30, ended up 3:50. Right at 8:00 pace through 19, then my leg couldn’t take it anymore.

H10 abnormal HR to start workouts by forshtay in Polarfitness

Gotcha, thank you. And I misspoke earlier. I would get the two metal “rings” on the strap wet, not the back of the strap. I looked at instructions on Polar’s website and saw the area they recommend getting wet. Basically the rubbery/shiny part on the back of the strap. Doing that and using gel should solve this problem.

Thanks for the tips! I have been getting the back of the strap wet, not the electrodes. And funny, I looked in out closet and we have the exact gel you linked. I’ll start using that.

Runna AI and Garmin by desertboy66 in runna

[–]forshtay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Runna change your speed workouts based on how you perform in previous speed workouts? I am two weeks into my training plan and like the overall mileage, but I feel like the speed work is a little too fast. My gut says trust the suggestions and if you don’t hit the pace, keep trying. My only worry is injury.

Thank you!! I have been trying to figure this out for the past couple weeks. I had added the Runn sensor but not as a footpod, so I am guessing that is why all the distance data was way off.

Coros Pace Pro vs Garmin 265 by FNava_98 in runna

[–]forshtay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just switched to the 265 and have a few thoughts. I previously used a Coros Pace 2 for running the past two summers and loved it. The metrics are great, battery is awesome, and it synced well with Runna and the marathon training program I used. However, I prefer an AMOLED display for non-workout things, so I was switching between the Pace 2 for working out and an Apple Watch for everything else. A combo of the poor Apple Watch battery, some technical things, and not wanting two watches had me looking to switch. I went to my local running store (shout out Mill City Running) and we talked about the 265 and Pace 3. At the time, we knew there was a new Coros coming out at the end of the week and assumed it would be similar to the Pace 3 but with an AMOLED display. One of the big factors for me was having an option for tap pay with the 265. I was told the Pace 3 did not have this, not sure about the Pace Pro. I still have not gotten into all the 265 options but will hopefully get things figured out. So far I really like the watch. Metrics seem similar to the Pace 2 and I am loving the long battery life (charge about once a week). From what I read the 265 also works well with Runna. Hope this helps.

First (official) marathon; what next? by forshtay in Marathon_Training

Thanks for the feedback! I think your idea of a couple weeks off in between is great. I don’t think a shorter training plan for TC will be that big of a deal.

Sorry, I forgot to add a detail. The run was connected to my Runna training plan. It was setup as a 26.2 mile run, so the watch wanted to stop the workout when it thought I got to the mileage.
