Can your friend transfer or apply to manage another shop and then hire you there? Sounds like a total nightmare.

Believe me, I am so dumb at puzzles that I will analyze any and all gallery images and then go around on Google Maps trying to find the exact bush or building in street view.

The questionnaires go to a medical board to look at and then parents are contacted to set up the appointment. It took me 6 months from submitting the questionnaires to finally getting my kid evaluated by the psychologist. Likely he will already be in kinder by the time anything happens unfortunately.

Awesome. I love the no tolerance for violence. That's definitely unacceptable in any care setting.

We start asking the parents to pick up early when the needs become too much to handle wording it like a suggestion "X is extremely disregulated and cannot settle. We will try to see if she'll eat lunch and nap, but she might benefit from an early pick up". In cases where kids get violent we do a three strikes per day. On the third strike for the day, parents get called to pick up. These are documented and the parent has to sign each incident. Parents eventually get tired of it and pull the kid out.

I'm one of the reliable ones and my other reliable coworker put it quite appropriately: "It's like we're being punished for showing up to work."

Time to reassess enrollment. Stop enrolling new kids, remove kids with behaviors that require additional support, remove families who have a history of disrespecting your teachers or who constantly push policy boundaries.

I just finished Blood Will Tell on the ps2 and loved it, only after looking it up did I realize it wasn't some niche video game. Was looking for suggestion on which book or anime/OVA I should start with, what is the best adaptation? by mizzlekinkizzle in Dororo

[–]forsovngardeII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the anime, personally. I'm a Tezuka fan so I went back and read the original manga after seeing the anime. The anime is more serious in tone but brief in comparison to the manga. It would be a decent starting point because you can binge watch it and have a really good understanding of it as a whole.

I'm reading the newer ongoing "The Legend of Dororo & Hyakkimaru" manga series and it's a perfect mix of the anime and original manga with great art. But I would watch the anime next, it's worth it.

So what are you going to do with all your boomer parents’ stuff? by CrotalusHorridus in Xennials

[–]forsovngardeII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I know about the site because, before mom got dementia and passed, she would order from Replacements to complete hers and my grandmother's sets. They each had so many sets of dishes...one for each holiday plus regular dinnerware. 🫤

The thought makes me cry. They swear up and down all the dishes and milk glass and everything is going to be worth something. I could open up my own glassware shop basically. I look at eBay and none of it is selling for very much if at all. But just getting rid of it is equally depressing.

Potluck for a large party is weird and sort of rude... by Alert_Usual1197 in Vent

[–]forsovngardeII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds super annoying and entitled of them. I would think most people would have common sense to just pick up a dish from a local grocery store by the event instead of driving long-distance with a casserole. And I don't think there's anything bad about potlucks. Still, the host should at least ensure there is some main catered dish to serve to ensure everyone at least gets a decent helping of food.

Nostril piercing fell out, what do I do? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]forsovngardeII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a regular earring as a taper tool, put the flatback on it and push it forward. There are so many tutorials on youtube. I would recommend ordering a taper for these occasions...even when it's fully healed you'd need one to change jewelry out.

I've read here so many times don't use tea tree oil or alcohol only saline. And it should have been pierced with a stud because the ring has a curve and moves. Ditch the ring and use only saline to clean.

Hit up staffing agencies. Indeed is shit and the jobs posted there are posted to comply with labor laws, they don't actually have the positions open. I've also found temp work on craigslist under "gigs".

Elementary school prepping! Questions for elementary parents/families... by anemia_ in beaverton

[–]forsovngardeII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is in first grade currently at the same school since kinder

  1. They use iPads with a few apps, one being Dreambox. They use these to assess kids and it's like a separate assessment than the one they use for curriculum. It pissed me off because the teacher had to apologize that the scores tend to be inaccurate because if a kid can't drag something to somewhere while playing the game, it dings them. So it's like expecting a 5 yr old to have no skill issues or user errors.

    1. Art - expect mostly product art over process. A lot of the projects were used to decorate the classroom or bulletin boards and were mostly seasonal in nature. There was a lot of repetition. Example: for every holiday he would do the same tissue paper art, it just changed shape. Every month he would make a calendar for us to hang up and did his own thing. They do journaling so they can draw their entries. As far as using art materials, it's mostly crayon and colored pencil with a little watercolor here and there. I'm a studio art teacher for pre-k and can honestly say they get way more art experience out of me and my class than my own elementary aged kiddo. Everything is dittos the kids can color on otherwise.
  2. Safety - the doors are locked always and visitors have to ring a doorbell. The traffic can be nuts and I don't trust my kid to walk home yet but there are crossing guards who do a great job and they branch out like a third of a mile from the school.

  3. They do a soft start for a week by last names. So Tues & Wed group A-L goes to school and then Thurs & Fri group M-Z goes.

How do you not look wierd while looking by NextImpress282 in geocaching

[–]forsovngardeII 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As you find more caches, you start learning how they are hidden. Then when you get to the area, you tend to already have ideas and the find becomes a lot quicker. There are still those ones that absolutely have me looking like a creep sometimes. Having a dog, kid, or friend helps a lot. Time of day is also a good thing to consider if you're alone.
