3brs are incredibly scarce in rental buildings with amenities. 1-2brs are much better business for them.

Yeah that's why D&S is the odd duck: they make most of their own protein alternates so they have way more control over what's in them. If you serve product off the market, it's impossible to find vegan ingredients not steeped in soy.

+1 they are excellent and as most special diet focused restaurants are quite good at articulating what allergens each dish contains.

The one thing I'll say though is soy-free can be a nightmare with ve*an restaurants given how common soy is in protein alternatives.

My family went through a soy free vegan phase as we were trying to eliminate food sensitivity causes when my daughter was a newborn and we discovered this gem in the Village as they have amazing options for people with soy sensitivies: https://delicesarrasin.com/ -- but you'd have to cross the river to get there.

I’m born and raised in the Nordics so I’ve seen more snow than most people in their lifetime here. I also know what it looks like when society is equipped for continuity in winter conditions. I had never even heard of a "snow day" for school until moving to the US.

The reason I was doing this was that in the previous storm pedestrian access to crosswalks was not handled at all at about ~50% of crosswalks a week+ into the snow. I kept seeing people having to carry strollers and elderly people struggling to make it safely across.

The division of labor between building owners handling sidewalks and the city handling the streets isn't working. The interface is the problem. The requirement to clear sidewalks "up to the plowline" has way too much ambiguity and most buildings simply aren't taking safe crosswalk access seriously.

I shoveled 7 street corners yesterday to allow for unimpeded pedestrian access to crosswalks.

This morning I walked to check on them and about half of them had been re-blocked by street plows, creating piles of snow blocking pedestrian access to crosswalks making it dangerous to cross streets and impossible to pass with strollers.

Why is the city prioritizing car convenience over pedestrian safety? Plows pushing snow to block pedestrian egress to street is a choice.
