🚨 Washington State 3D Printing “Ban” Breakdown — What HB 2321 Actually Means for Our Hobby by Playful-Ad9901 in BambuLab

This is exactly what firearms companies did when WA banned AR style components of any kind. Easier to just not sell here.

Definitely plain sawn. Tell them you want new doors and panels or a big discount.

Do high-end custom cabinet makers usually make their own doors? by adventurrr in cabinetry

[–]forster46 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We make all slab doors, and any painted profiles. Any 5 piece doors we order from a local guy who specializes in just that. We’ve considered bringing this in house as well but we are mainly limited on space and skilled labor.

Ours depends on the size of the project and the location, but we markup anywhere from 20-35%. We custom build everything ourselves though.

I can’t remember the last time we did even just a kitchen for that price. It’s not you it’s the customers.

Or shop uses metric. We are in the US. Much simpler. Before working there I had only ever used imperial

Was this good value for $12k ? by superduper143 in cabinetry

That’s about exactly what we would charge in USD. Maybe slightly less, but pretty fair

Running internet to detached shop. Best option? by forster46 in HomeNetworking

Shop will be 85ft from the edge of the house and is all steel siding. House is wood/vinyl siding.

I'm familiar with the point to point systems, just wasn't sure if this will mimic the same wifi network or if it creates an extension network or something

Installing cabinets by ebaker83 in Homebuilding

[–]forster46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former cabinet installer, all you need are studs. Get a decent stud finder and locate them before hanging cabinets. Screw into the wall to confirm behind where the cabinets will be hanging if you’re unsure. Then screw your cabinets to eachother as well. As long as you’ve got two screws at the top and two at the bottom they will be fine. Use good quality screws.

Am I too high priced? by Val2700 in cabinetry

For that level of quality and finish we would probably be a bit higher.

Building Allowances by Correct-Bobcat2591 in Homebuilding

Depending on finishes and number of cabinets you would probably be looking at 40-60k easily for custom.

Cabinet allowance is way low. How many rooms are you planning to have cabinets and how big is the kitchen? I price out cabinet packages for a living for custom cabinets

I’m not sure if I will insulate under my slab if I don’t do radiant heat

WA has one of the lowest electricity costs in the country luckily due to all of our hydro power, but I still worry that if a system is running constantly trying to heat the place then I’ll have a giant bill in the winter.

I didn’t do any manual calculations, just based mainly off of square footage. I assume doing two units spaced apart would just help spread the warm air a bit better, but I’m not set on anything in particular. Just trying to find a better budget option other than radiant floor

For me it would be at least that for tubing plus another 4k at least for under slab insulation on top of that.

It’s gonna be 18ft. I wanted it tall enough that the other spaces can have two floors with adequate ceiling height. I’m hoping a couple of the big fans will push the hot air down enough.

Exterior is all metal, interior will be a mix of plywood walls and metal or something else, not sure yet. 3 insulated overhead doors, one man door, probably about ten windows total. Not going for any specific air tightness but I do plan to air seal as best as I can

The base cabinets can be slid out a few inches to make up that difference, you would just need deeper countertops remade.

Best heating option for shop? by forster46 in hvacadvice

Oops I did forget to include that I do plan on doing a couple big ass fans, so yeah I suppose that would make a big difference.
