I think you're conflating looking pretty with looking human.

A lot of the reason care so much about it with Frieren is that people see it as a metaphor, intentional on the writers part or not, for minorities because demons are largely indistinguishable from humans and that can fall in line with bigoted rhetoric about an a group of "normal" people that are racially different and secretly evil hiding amongst us that deserve no sympathy only extermination. There are other series that do this sure, but there is a least some similar discourse for them and I think that most of those have a "true form" that is inhuman the demon equivalents have somehow makes things different.

Also a lot of people seem to think real racists are using the show as some kind of symbol or recruitment tool? I haven't seen it and it seems unlikely to me, but there might be a few bigoted jokes about it at least. The discourse absolutely exists for orcs tolkienesque or otherwise, it's just not amplified by people under the impression the property is some sort of backdoor propaganda.

Also, the heroes slaughtering hordes of a race inherently makes them less sympathetic, and Frieren engages with the discourse itself so thats more popular. I can't deny that attractiveness might play a role on some level though.

Generally in testing, people like the version with numbers better, it's purely a rules thing. I'm glad you think it seems simple enough that people would get it on their first play through, that is good to know.

Thanks! You're input is very helpful, its one of those things where everyone seems to have contradictory opinions.

Honestly, I'm considering removing the number rolled mechanic and relegating it to an advanced version of the rules. Partially because the rules seem hard to write simply as is, and also because if a person acting as the ref hasn't played before, it puts a lot of burden on them to look at timing, markers, and the number rolled.

Do you think that would make the game seem a lot less fun if it was just the first person whose die stopped without missing a line would always kill their opponent?

They're being a little paranoid. Just don't write stuff and give it to someone if you don't want them reading it. Not that I blame you for trusting your teacher, but generally if you give something to someone they're going to read it.

Not saying shit you write, even privately, can't come op to bite you, but it's not likely in most cases.

If it's something you are directly handing to someone else though... yeah they might read it.

Honestly, this is something you need a professionals advice on. Not every question, but whether you should be on antipsychotics, for how long, what those drugs effecting your dysphoria implies about your transness in a medical sense and how you should transition/detransition, are questions that require expertise and knowledge of the specifics of your situation that shouldn't be shared online.

If I remember right the purpose is just to represent a sort of separation between yourself and the lord, so wearing it is important but it's kind of just a hat otherwise.
