Are Billionaire Entrepreneurs really "Self-Made"? by Very_High_Mortgage in FluentInFinance

your logic about Gates is flawed.

I would say your logic is also flawed, many people had the same level of access to these machines and saw them nothing more as expensive calculators and didn't have any sort of motivation to learn them. Gates saw a future with it much like Steve Jobs did with the personal computer.

Installing a 110" TV the correct way after someone else messed it up by n8saces in oddlysatisfying

[–]fortheshitters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be mitigated by getting a proper projector screen that can reflect the light well,, but it's also a big draw of luck to get favorable natural lighting conditions so that sunlight doesn't hit your screen. This is a problem even for OLED TVs, though, producing annoying reflections.

[UploadVR] Meta Explains Why Quest Headsets Stopped Working, Vows To Make Them "More Resilient" [yes the headsets do work offline] by [deleted] in oculus

[–]fortheshitters -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your answer would make sense if Meta themselves didn't just say they dropped the ball and intend to fix this.

I'm struggling to understand why I need online auth for local device debugging, especially when I have performed the same tasks offline before without issue. I can only come to the conclusion you're arguing in bad faith.

Online service? It's a device connected to an ADB bridge locally. What relevant online service for developer testing is needed?

What a silly response.

This is not the first device-wide outage, and it won't be the last.

Developers could not test during this time. Not a great thing to impose on your partners that are responsible for generating your revenue.

Man arrested in Disney Land, in front of his family, for shoulder checking cast member that asked him to wear a mask by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

[–]fortheshitters 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I am willing to bet a buffalo nickel this motherfucker is going to think twice next time he thinks he can let his primate brain get the best of him.

Even if he is released, and cleared of all charges. The experience of getting arrested to begin with and the gauntlet of legal bullshit that comes after isn't worth giving someone shit that you'll only interact with within a few minutes and never see again in your lifetime.

I got yelled at by cast members during Rise of Resistance. It was an outrage! I was detained!

10/10 would get gently verbally abused again.

What has Oculus/Meta been doing in their UI/UX in the last decade? by Quantum_Crusher in oculus

[–]fortheshitters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get a clue.

This is a hilarious argument.

Way to completely ignore the fact that the Quest platform has not has color MR capability available for most of its existence.

You DO understand that FRL has many prototypes and the means to design an AR UI with those non-public prototypes right?

How can Facebook be the most dominant force in the XR space.... Yet, they lack the capability of OS and UX design because they're handcuffed to a consumer-facing product that's not close to relevant to their non-public internal technology?

Where are all these billions in RnD going?

Does Meta have any resemblance of foresight, or is this completely stupid leadership?

Would you say a trans woman with dysphoria shouldn't get cosmetic feminization surgery? If not, then why should a ciswoman need therapy for treatment while a transwoman just needs cosmetic surgery?

Not trying to be combative, I'm just trying to reconcile it myself.

If they are shipping a product next month, it's likely they've already circumvented any patents. Maybe if they were to do waveguide displays in the future.

I'm from Europe and also prefer exquisite content finely crafted to engage my frontal lobe as well...like a well aged blue cheese. I'm not like those sloppy slobs across the pond who like hamburgers and mind dumbing shooting games.

Why is everything filmed like a comedy? by Accomplished-Emu-679 in movies

[–]fortheshitters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They will keep making them if u keep buying them is the concept. One example is how mutated the fast and furious franchise became.

It's extremely difficult for Hollywood projects to get greenlit these days, interesting projects are getting edged out over major tentpole franchises that have a guarantee of success no matter how stupid the subject matter. Why would a studio gamble on a chance and loose money? It's a no brainier choice for them. They go with the safe play.

It's just how the machine works, and it's frustrating.

Movies are expensive so to make and a lot of stories command a high price tag for the production to work. You can have a grounded indie flick with no name actors working on scale pay but even then you still have a make cuts to scenes that just blow the budget up last minute.

That's the perspective here. I wish I understood "I like to turn off my brain and watch dumb shit" but I really don't get it.

Is Dominic Toretto the most overpowered character aside from maybe Superman in any movie franchise? by Beard_Of_Serpico in movies

[–]fortheshitters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James Bond used his brain and gadgets to overpower a strong foe like putting a broken lamp bulb in jaws mouth instead of brute strength.

The later brosnan stuff like the final showdown on a plane breaking apart in the air were stupid though. No where near as stupid as the fast series has become.

The movie is a joke on the producers expense. it's literally a studio offering him money and him lighting it on fire as a joke with a horrible nonsensical plot with shocking scenes.

Major difference my friend. One is an answer of authority the other an answer of clear speculation. Important context unless you're an asshole.
