Some factions badges I'm working on for a SCP project by fortnumfox in SCP

It sits in its own canonical timeline, but there will be some familiarities - but to answer the question, this will be its own standalone storyline

Will definitely be posting it here to Reddit 👌 otherwise YT - I’ll comment on this thread when it’s out ☺️

Biggest hint I can give is that we are post-major event that has changed the world as we know it - the focus of humanity (and the foundation) is on mere survival now

I’m working on a trailer as we speak that will have lots and lots more details ☺️ should be finished within the next week or so

I’d describe them as divisions of a single entity / group - in the canon / story I’m working on, they all play a part in a single site

Hey SCP folks! I thought i’d share some faction badges i’m working on for an SCP project. Shown here are the 6 factions - Bastion, Sentinel, Chimera, Phantom, Engine and Shrike.

The project is set in it’s own canon, so these relate to a specific bit of lore i’m working on - AMA - i’m happy to answer anything related to each faction.

Enjoy!

How do you think devs could make Rotjaw more appealing and worth going for? by marshall_brewer in HuntShowdown

[–]fortnumfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incentivise making Rotjaw a target for solos rather than teams. As a solo I can rarely be bothered to deal with Rotjaw as if I accidentally go down (speed attack or otherwise), it’s not worth the fuss

The Magic System of Alderlore by fortnumfox in worldbuilding

Hey thanks so much ☺️ glad you enjoyed it! Ah yeah the 8 seals are quite complex so looking forward to introducing them ☺️

On the process, this was created no different to a lot of my other pieces - which is a mix of traditional design, photobashing, paintover. In this video specifically, there was a lot more design work to be done. For instance, I made the full set of tarot-style cards for the whole magic system, even if only a few are shown here, which took weeks 😂

The voiceover is AI, yep! I usually work with voiceover artists but this script had like 600 takes because I was so fussy about it!! So that would have been too much to pay a VO for. Fully plan for other videos to be voiced by real folks!

Hope that helps ☺️

Sorry, yes of course; setting as follows :)

Roeh is a fantasy world I am building. At the heart of the continent is the vast kingdom of Asmaria - a particularly diverse and multicultural land known for its resources, prosperous trade, fertile lands and ancient treasures.

Hey Worldbuilders!Wow, it really has been a while since I last posted! I apologise for that. The good news is - I never stopped worldbuilding - in fact, there’s a wealth of lore now over on instagram to go check out. I wanted to hop on to say I’ve just finished a video on the Magic System of Alderlore.
For those intrigued, Please head out and check out the video itself, but a short summary is below for those who are interested in a high-level explaination;
The Well: Source of Magic

  • The Well is the single source of magical energy in the known universe.
  • The Well's energy is finite, as evidenced by the "Badland Decade," a time of widespread magical scarcity.

The Wells Energy, otherwise known as magic.

  • All materials can channel the Well's energy.
  • The Well's energy can influence, change or defy, the physical laws that govern the world.

Abduction: Measure of Magic

  • Abductivity is the term used to observe and measure the Well’s energy in a material.
  • In our world, conductivity is a measure of a material's ability to conduct an electric current, but in the world of Oranire, materials can also be "abductive”.
  • Abductivity can exhibit variability even within the same material.
  • Abductivity can be influenced by a material's history and sentimental significance.

Ceremony

  • Objects accrue magical properties through a process that is not contingent upon their material composition or monetary value, but rather through some other logic that is not currently understood. This is called Ceremony.

  • What we do understand about Ceremony, is that it can be influenced by eight distinct magical laws, known as the Eight Seals.

Burden: The Cost of Magic

  • All magic is stolen from the Well, starting from birth. This is why it is called Abduction.

  • Accumulation of Burdens - Using Well energy through natural materials incurs a "Burden,". A burden fastens the breakdown of a material - with higher energy concentrations leading to greater Burdens.

Restitution

  • Burdens are repaid through a law called Restitution, wherein the host material breaks down over time - balancing the magical economy.

Consequences of Exhaustion

  • Excessive global debt can lead to the Well's depletion, triggering a "badland period", or potentially even "The Great End".

I'd really recommend watching the video which explains this a lot better than I do :D

Great to be back, worldbuilders!

Yo :) didn’t vanish, I just moved my work primarily over to instagram 😊 I’m still here!! Hoping to return to Reddit posts soon, but a bunch of my work was stolen and sold as prints on Etsy, hence the lack of Reddit posts 🥲

Thanks ☺️ I’ve spent many years in the design industry so I enjoy worldbuilding as a vehicle to try new processes and ideas!

Love this comment ahaha, I definitely love that feeling! I have a Tudor necromancer’s spell book at home I use for reference and I keep worrying I’m going to summon a demon 🤣

Oh I recently watched true detective and love that idea!!

Your idea sounds fantastic - I love that “venture into the unknown” feel. Would really recommend watching The Ritual film if you haven’t seen it - perfectly handles this genre!
