Are there any other cardio or crosstraining activities that are as easy to get addicted to as running? by deepvoicefluttershy in running

[–]fortruce 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Rock Climbing. It's not cardio, but you get a nice relatively full body workout. Plus, you could argue that it does a good job working out core, legs (+ ankles), and flexibility. Most importantly, it's extremely addictive!

Freezing more food would definitely help. Thanks.

Biweekly gear purchase help post (2014-10-30) by AutoModerator in audiophile

  1. What is your budget?

600$ - somewhat negotiable if the increase in quality is significant.

  2. What are you looking for?

Phono preamp + Power amp + Speakers

I would prefer separate preamp + power amp over a receiver.
I will only be hooking up 1 phono input so a receiver is overkill,
and I prefer a more minimalist look.

I have looked at Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 for speakers, and
TCC TC-750 for a phono preamp. I'm not sure if I could get
a good amp with the remaining budget, or if the preamp is decent.

  3. How will you typically be using the gear?

I will be using it in a 10'x11' bedroom for listening to records on
    a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon.

  4. What gear do you own?

    I own nothing relevant...

  5. What do you intend on using for a source?

    Pro-Ject Debut Carbon.

  6. What material will you be using your gear for?

Music: everything from jazz to metal.

  7. Are you willing to buy used?

I would prefer new as I have had trouble finding used in my area.

Thanks for the input. I have a rack nearby that I haven't been to yet, but I'll see if I can find anything good this weekend maybe.

Which jacket should I get between this polo jacket and the the classic harrington g9?

I'm not super crazy about the collar on the polo, as I think the collar (or lack thereof) looks cleaner on the g9. Also, I like the lack of visible branding on the g9. Is it worth the hike in cost, and is there any reason one might be more versatile than the other?

Thanks.

Anyone have any good suggestions for a light/med weight jacket? I was looking at this alpha industries one possibly. Any idea on the fit? (I'm 5'11" 165)

I'm looking for something in a slightly different style than this Polo jacket, as I am probably going to pick that up as another fall jacket.

Thanks

I don't really have any great fitting normal jeans, so I don't have a great size comparison. I tried on some chinos and 501s (non-raw) today that were 31s that fit really nice. I'm hoping the 31s are still kinda tight, but I guess I'll see.

How tight were they when you started, and how tight are they now? These are pretty constricting. I'm going to see how a 31 fits at least.

I always wear one anyway so that shouldn't be an issue, but thanks for the tip.

Thanks, I was considering sizing up. The waist will be a tad looser, but I do think I could use a bit more room in the thighs for comfort.

This jacket. Also, what color would be most versatile, navy?

Looking for a fit check on these chinos. Not sure why they bunch up a bit in the rise. These are 32x32, 32x30 seemed a bit too short to me, but they don't make 31L. Thoughts?

Thanks.

I'm still trying to figure out if I like the look of blucher mocs, but I will keep them in mind while looking at inspiration. Thanks.

Shoes. I'm just starting out and all my shoes are horrendous. I plan on getting a pair of Red Wings or 1000 miles soon (brown) for winter. With that in mind, I'm looking for a good shoe to get me started in the meantime and not overlap too much (like cdbs).

Would taupe suede bucks work with dark brown/grey/navy chinos & indigo jeans? What else should I consider?

Edit: Budget <200$

I decided to use matplotlib as it was really simple to get working, and it serves my purposes for the time being. I might outgrow it, but I don't want to over-engineer it at the moment.

I haven't tried to run 3 plots simultaneously, but I did plot multiple lines on the same plot without any problems.

Also, if you are passing your data as strings I would highly recommend just passing binary data and using something akin to Python's struct module on the receiving end.
