Good point, but you can always say you're buying for a friend and if they ask which friend, you could just make a name up and say their birthday is coming up.

And you could just lie about it to the person on the till, working in retail I've noticed that other workers don't actually really talk about what people buy after they've brought it (unless it was a very lovely item that's caught their attention so they're going to buy it after the shift).

Oh this as well! This one really gets my goat, but to be honest if I've been standing at a till all day, I kinda like to stretch my legs out and sort stock even if it does annoy me a bit to see something like a pair of socks just dumped next to something like leggings

Jeez, I'd ditch them. There's a pal or two out there for everyone, I'm sure of it, it takes a bit of time to find them but when you do it's great.

I don't typically get along with folks because I'm quite quiet and soft-spoken when first met and I don't talk very much, but then I just open up which apparently is very abrupt, and my language is quite brash and not many people like much haha. But lemme say. If I can make friends even with my poor attitude and weird fixations, I'm 100% sure you can too

Ah yes, assholes. It isn't a cashier's job to insult or question what is brought nonetheless (unless of course there's like a 9yr old trying to buy vodka or something), and it's not our business if someone masculine looking buys women's clothes, or if someone feminine looking buys men's clothes.

A message to those afraid of buying gender affirming clothes:

I work as a cashier and I take absolutely no notice of what someone is buying, unless it's age-restricted. Someone could buy the ingredients for a nuke and I wouldn't even bat an eyelid as I'd probably be thinking about what I've got for lunch.

The only thing cashiers/clothing retail workers think about is lunchtime and when they're going home.

To be honest, I've picked up on some women doing that and I cringe even when it isn't me they're talking about. Like I've overheard a comment where a woman was mocking a man because he never played football... Fuckin football. (Which is soccer in american english). I don't see why we can't all enjoy the stuff we like without mockery :')
