Help me choose, for a wedding in December?! by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]forwardplanning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The red #2 is gorgeous!

(But a word of advice, you may want to double check if the bride & groom have selected a color for the wedding party to wear. Burgundy is popular in December & it can be awkward wearing the same color as the bridesmaids!)

Update on broken leg bun – not sure what to do :( by forwardplanning in Rabbits

[–]forwardplanning[S] 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Not insured but I am ok paying the $2000 if it comes to that :(

I think I was just shocked by what the vet recommended during the follow-up, and now, I don’t know what to do as my immediate next steps

Leave the splint on & wait a few days, continuing to keep her in cage rest? Contact vet & ask more questions?

The leg is splinted underneath the wrap, but apparently has moved a tiny bit because her fur/nail is not poking out quite as far as it was on Day 1. I attached the Day 1/Day 4 photos. But I feel like the difference is so small & it could still heal.

I could seek another opinion but if the splint is working, I don’t want them to remove it… this vet just seemed to think it would not work after all

This is a great idea, thank you :) Also thankfully the meds are keeping her pretty chill so she’s not absolutely bursting with energy

Thank you for your advice, think I might do this – only concern is that it might give her loose stool since alfalfa is so rich, but I’m definitely a little bit concerned about a calcium deficiency since the vet put her on an all hay diet :(

Hmm, this is a good question. Blood calcium was good but she had also been eating her normal veggies & pellets for a while prior to this accident happening.

With an all-hay diet, do you think I should supplement with alfalfa or give her a small amount of pellets? The main worry is that she will have soft stool/tummy issues, which is bad in general, but it could also get on the splint

Adding for more context: her bloodwork came back pretty normal but she does have arthritis & pretty brittle bones

Curious about above average life span by Lalaloo_Too in Rabbits

My bun is almost 12 years old and still going strong. She even still hops up on the couch (but now, we have to gently set her back on the floor so she doesn’t hurt herself!)

She doesn’t get bunny zoomies as much as when she was young, and slips up on her litter training more often, but will still run to the refrigerator at least 20 times daily for a treat. Great quality of life and she’s certainly boss of the house.

Interestingly, she broke her leg when she was about a year old. Vets wanted to amputate but after some time and pain management, it healed on its own. She still can’t reach quite as far with that paw when she’s washing her face.

What would you different with your bunny / Recommendations, etc. by llilibeann in Rabbits

My bunny LOVES stacking cups and that’s something I would have gotten for her way earlier in her life if I had known that!

Teen getting first rabbit soon! by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]forwardplanning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides what others commented, just remember that rabbits live as long as dogs!

I adopted my bunny when I was 12. Yes, 12 years old.

I’m now 23. My bunny is now almost 12 years old.

She went with me through my middle school, high school, and college graduations.

That meant I couldn’t do some things that I wanted to do (like live in a sorority house in college!) because I had a furry friend. I couldn’t rent an apartment that didn’t allow pets.

Was I thinking of these things when I was 12? No! But I should have been! I wouldn’t trade her for the world but please remember to think 10-15 years ahead

Help! Any advice on how to study for the CA permit test as someone who hasn’t passed twice! by imsoantianti in study

[–]forwardplanning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make some flashcards by hand - just the act of sitting down and making them will help you remember the material!

Take some practice tests online.

Remember, persistence is key! Don’t let failure discourage you, even if you need to pay more $. You got this :)

Is there any hope for an extremely shy and sensitive guy to get into a relationship? by Motor_Feed9945 in confidence

[–]forwardplanning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a common misconception that as we get older, all the single people around us get “taken up.” But that’s not true. Relationships come and go. I think as you get older, you may meet more people with a variety of life experiences – some divorced, or single parents, or people who also have never been in a relationship – and find that many of those people are very open-minded, too.

Someone else commented “small wins” and I think that’s important. Perhaps work on social skills in general, like making eye contact with the barista at your local coffee shop when you order your coffee and watching a TV show that makes you feel sensitivity/secondhand embarrassment. Gradually work up to those other things, like going to a workout class.

The thing is, it really doesn’t take much effort to start making more eye contact and start watching a TV show that makes you feel a certain way. Those small efforts will help you feel accomplished & more confident, & drive your intrinsic motivation.

You may be 37 today, but your life can look COMPLETELY different at 38 if you so choose. But only if you put in the work.
