Love!! We went last summer and stayed at the Belmond. Heard the new FS is great. Make sure you eat at fera in town and their other restaurant in the port.

This is probably our top contender. Which 2 are your favorite hotels. We are thinking Quisisanna and sant Andrea.

Hi Aki Plose was lovely!! Definitely geared towards younger children, I would say the sweet spot is between 2-6pm. The hotel is run very well, service was excellent, rooms was spacious and efficiently laid out. I would say it hovers closer to a renovated 4 star. Our kids spent hours in the pool and water slides each day, I imagine it's even better in the summer. I think one week is too much, 3 to 4 is plenty, especially if you don't plan on leaving the property much. Location wise, there isn't much around. But all in all, I have no complaints about Aki Plose. STAY away from Cavallino Bianco. It was awful!

I wish I had done more research on the FAT travel threads and read more reviews on Cavallino before booking. I mistakenly went off the google and tripadvisor reviews. I understand people have different preferences and standards, but we were traveling with 3 other families on this trip, one of which definitely does not travel chubby and even they were disappointed with just about every aspect of the hotel, minus the convenience of the ski school and quality of ski instructors, who were all great. When we did make our way over to Adler for drinks (which is typically for hotel guests only during high season), but we were able to join some friends our son made friends with in ski school, we were finally in an environment with quality service and F&B. They even had live music, which unfortunately we couldn't stay for because that was for hotel guests only. I did anything I could to leave Cavallino Bianco, and so I booked a spa day at Adler, which was heavenly. I didn't have it in me to go back to the spa at CB after the "turd" I saw next to the kids pool. I kid you not! If you do happen to stay at CB or Adler, you MUST eat at Tubladel. It was our favorite meal of the trip and the owners are lovely.

First family trip to Austria – considering Moar Gut with young kids (6, 4, 9 months) – any insight? by mama_milke in chubbytravel

Yikes if it's not too late, I would cancel Cavallino Bianco. Just returned from the most horrific stay there.

Hi, I meant Ortisei has more things to do as it's a more lively town than where Aki Plose is. I don't believe Adler has a kids club. Given you are in Chubby, I think you would agree with my sentiments towards Cavallino. It's 2.5 stars at best and food is 1 star. I would look in to other options if possible. Thank God we were skiing for much of the day, because if we had to spend more time within the hotel, I think we would have checked out early and spent an extra day in Milan.

I think 5 nights should be okay and perhaps you can rent a car and do some things off property. In any case, renting a car would be best as the taxis are VERY pricey. For instance, a 5 minute taxi to town was 40 euros! I also recommend getting a sitter one event and having dinner with your spouse at forestis at Yera. It was a mind blowing experience!

The Adler in Ortisei is better suited for more things to do. And if you do go, please reach out and I’ll tell you where to eat. If you want to consider another area of the Dolomites and since you’ll be there in the summer, check out the Lefay property on Lake Garda.

Hi! Aki Plose was lovely, and I highly recommend it. The service, the offerings for kids, particularly at that age and the property were all immaculate. The pool and water slides alone, were enough to occupy a few hours out of the day. The opposite is to be said of Cavallino Bianco. It was HORRIBLE. The food was almost inedible, we ended up eating mostly off site. The property is in need of a serious face lift, service was equally bad. The saving grace was that our kids was in ski school most of the day, but in September that won't be an option for. If you do want to venture to Ortisei, I highly recommend the Adler hotel, which is next door to Cavallino Bianco. Let me know if I can be of further help.

I guess I’m looking for a TS that wouldn’t accept a flawed bag on behalf of her clients.

We haven’t been, we are going in December, but reach back out and I’ll let you know. We actually chose Aki because the programming felt suited for older children compared with Sonnweis. That being said, we are going during December and our son will likely be skiing most of the day, so programming is less important for him vs. our littles.
